Levi didn’t say anything. It had been, well, a lot of guys. Even Christy said it, though she said it with affection.
“Second, what does it mean to be greedy? Give me a definition.”
“Um… I think I’m…”
“Nope. This isn’t ‘I statements.’ A person is greedy when they…”
“...want everything for themselves and don’t think about other people.”
“Mmmm-hmmmm. So, let’s go through some examples. I brought you a ridiculously sugary drink because you asked for it in your adorable Santa letter. And the next day you went to the coffee shop and texted me because... “
What was he getting at? “I texted you because… oh, shit. I was supposed to ask you about getting a treat.”
“No, baby. We hadn’t established that yet. You texted me because you were buying a coffee for Christy and yourself, and you asked me very sweetly if you could get me one, too. Why did you do that?”
“I just… I was feeling so happy and I wanted you to be happy, too.” It had seemed pretty self-explanatory at the time. He hadn’t even thought about it beyond imagining the smile on Saul’s face. That was kind of like a treat in itself.
“Alright, and how about ordering food? We agreed that I would do all the ordering, didn’t we? Because we both enjoy knowing that I’m taking care of you?”
“Yeah…”
“But you were really excited today to pick up something from your favorite place, so you ordered our lunch, right? Why was that?”
“Um, because I thought you would like it and I wanted to share my favorite things. So I forgot the rules, but I promise I can do better.”
“Sweetheart, you’re missing the point.” Saul looked frustrated. “Dammit, boy,” he finally snapped. “Come up here so that I can hold you.”
That made it so much easier. Levi was even less convinced now that he deserved to be in Daddy’s lap, but that just made him want it more. And if Daddy said so, he had to obey.
He sat in his favorite position, knees on either side of Daddy’s thighs with their chests pressed together. He curled into Saul’s neck, breathing in the scent of his skin. Feeling Daddy’s disappointment was terrible.
Saul spoke softly against his cheek. “I think I’m not doing a very good job of this. I want to try again.” He took a deep breath and let it out. “I don’t think that you’re greedy. I think that you’re exuberant and I love watching you ask for, or even demand, what you want and need.”
Really?
“I never thought about being a Daddy until I read your letters, but I have to say that so far, it’s a hundred times better than what I was expecting. I. Like. Taking. Care. Of. You.” He gave Levi’s shoulder a little shake to punctuate each word. As if he could shake the meaning into his brain.
“When you tell me what you want,” he continued, “it makes it feel easy and natural for me to be able to give it to you. I don’t have to guess how to make you happy, and I think it’s an exhilarating feeling for both of us. You like asking for things and I like giving them to you because it’s hot as fuck, but also because it feels right. Do you understand?”
“I want to.” He really did. Because what Daddy was saying sounded perfect. It was what he’d always thought having a Daddy was supposed to be like. It just hadn’t been true before.
“The thing is, baby, I can keep telling you that you’re not greedy. I recall that we had a long talk about it yesterday, and I’m happy to say it a million more times if you need me to. But you have to believe it.”
Levi soaked up all of Saul’s warm caresses, but he still shook his head. “Even Christy says that I’m greedy.”
Saul was quiet for a minute. Thinking. “What does Christy say about it?”
“She says I’m the greediest boy so I need a Daddy who can spoil me.”
“Is that a bad thing when she says it?”
“Not from her perspective. But then, she’s into all sorts of things like humiliation and cuckolding and high-protocol service that are pretty much the opposite of that, so I don’t know if she understands.”
“I think she understands you and your needs pretty well, actually. She’s still a Domme and I’m sure that she has other ways of spoiling her subs that fit their needs. She’s your best friend, so maybe she knows what she’s talking about. Let me ask it another way. Do you want to be greedy?”
“I… Yeah. I do, I guess. It’s just… I don’t want to be selfish. Like, I really do care about other people.”
“Ahhhhh…” It sounded like Daddy had some kind of revelation, but Levi couldn’t figure it out. “Would Christy say that you’re selfish?”
