“Um, I don’t think so. We split things pretty equally, and we take care of each other, I think.”

“So is being greedy different from being selfish?”

Levi finally looked up. He had no idea. Didn’t they mean the same thing?

Daddy gave him a soft kiss. “Let’s redefine those terms. At least for our relationship. Selfish is when you put yourself first and don’t think or care about other people. I would say that you’re selfish about… maybe zero percent of the time. In fact, you’re one of the least selfish people I know. You really delight in making other people happy.

“Levi, I can’t even tell you how many things I’ve done with you this week that have made me so happy that I couldn’t stop smiling. I never thought I’d enjoy dancing at a club, but I had an amazing time. I’ve never had anyone ask me so sincerely if they could bring me something as simple as a coffee just because they wanted me to be happy. I can’t even tell you how much that meant to me, that we would have that as part of our dynamic.”

Saul paused, as if overcome with some emotion. “I also… I also didn’t think that I’d feel comfortable doing anything sexual with you where I had an orgasm or exposed more of my body, at least not for a while. You’ve given me a huge gift of feeling comfortable with my own anatomy, largely because you were so selfless that you begged me to feel good, too, during our scene yesterday.”

“I… really? I did all that? I mean… I’m not aiming for false modesty. I just didn’t see it that way.” But if he had done that for Saul, that was kind of awesome. He had no idea Saul had been so nervous. He found himself starting to smile.

“Well, that’s always how I’ve seen you. Generous, dedicated, supportive of other people, and constantly sharing the things that you enjoy to make other people happy. Since we’ve been in this relationship, I’ve seen it blossom even more.”

“I… wow. I… I really didn’t see myself that way.” This was a whole new world. Not just empty promises. Saul had really thought about this.

“It’s true.” Saul gave him a deep, lingering kiss, and this time he let himself luxuriate in it. He was starting to see what he meant and… Well, if he thought of himself outside of his needs from a Daddy, it wasn’t a bad description of him, he was pretty sure.

“Now let’s talk about that other word that you’ve been throwing around. We’re going to say that greedy means that you’re stepping into the role of being my boy and letting me take care of you. Greedy means that you get so excited about sharing something special with me, or letting me give you a treat, that you can’t wait to tell me about it. Greedy means that you give me ideas about how I can make you happy, and then you share that happiness with me so that we both benefit. And if that’s what greedy is for us, then I want you to be greedy all the time.”

“Is that… is that really what you want?”

“Absolutely. I can’t get enough of my greedy boy. My neshama.”

Levi beamed. He was a greedy boy, and he was Saul’s soul. Even if it didn’t quite mean the same thing across the languages, it was the most beautiful of all the nicknames. The one he’d been waiting for.

“So, let’s go through those examples again.” Daddy looked determined, and Levi was more than willing to let him do it. He needed to know that it was really true.

“You asked for a coffee and when I gave it to you, you clapped your hands, looked adorable as fuck when you thanked me, and then moaned like a porn star when you finally tasted it. Greedy or selfish?”

Saul pressed a finger to his lips to stop him from answering. He was coming to love that gesture. It was so sweet, and just such a Daddy thing to do. Daddy wanted him to think about something before he spoke, and that meant a lot to him.

“When you got that coffee, were you thinking about how much you enjoy coffee, or how much you enjoyed receiving a gift from me?”

“Definitely the second one. I mean, I can buy my own coffee. And, um, it was too hot to actually drink so I just pretended to sip it.”

Daddy’s eyes sparkled. “I had wondered about that. Mine was still way too hot when I got back to my office. So, selfish or greedy? Did you want the coffee, or did you want to share a special moment with your Daddy?”

“Um, greedy, I guess.”

“There we go. How about begging me to take you dancing? Greedy or selfish?”

“Um… I didn’t know at the time that you didn’t like dancing. I wouldn’t have asked if you did.”

“And I would have missed out on a fun evening. But I think you’re proving my point that it was…”

“Greedy. You know, it’s really weird thinking of the word that way. Like it’s a good thing.”

“Oh, it’s a very good thing. One of my favorite things about our relationship. OK, here’s another one. How about when I told you that you could only watch three movies. I recall you pouting at me. Tell me what you were thinking. Selfish or greedy?”

“Um… I don’t think I actually wanted to watch more than three movies. Like, I don’t even care if we watch another one or not. I just wanted to, uh, I don’t even know how to explain it. Have your attention? See if you would tell me no? Neither of those make sense.”

“So… what you’re saying is that you wanted me to demonstrate to you that I’m your Daddy and that I was going to set limits, because it’s a routine that we both enjoy. Selfish or greedy?”

“Greedy, I guess?”

“That’s right, baby. Here’s the thing I notice about you. I don’t think that you need a Daddy to help you manage your everyday life or meet your goals. You’re already doing an excellent job of that on your own. What you need a Daddy for is making sure that you’re adored and spoiled, and giving you some limits because it makes you feel cared for and secure. Does that sound about right?”
