Saul cupped his face, stroking one thumb from just above his lip around to his chin. Tremulously, he met his eyes.
Saul studied his face, but it wasn’t any look that he recognized. “I’ve always wondered what your beard would feel like.”
That was a good thing, right? It wasn’t really an answer. More of a non sequitur. But it was something. It proved that Saul had been thinking about him, too. “How does it feel?”
“Soft. A little bit scratchy.”
Levi realized then that Saul probably couldn’t grow a beard, or at least not yet. He had one transmasculine friend with a full, bushy beard and another who complained that he could only grow three hairs at a time. Was that something Saul was worried about?
Saul stroked around his lips again with both thumbs now. Touching him like he was something fragile and special.
Levi closed his eyes. If this was really just one evening, he wanted to enjoy it to its fullest. To pretend, just a little longer, that he had a Daddy. That his office crush might turn into something more.
He only wanted to be a little greedy, he promised himself. He wouldn’t ask for more than what Saul wanted to give him.
And if Saul wanted to forget this ever happened, which seemed increasingly likely, he’d go along with it. Because they still had to work with each other.
Though that reminded him… “Do we have to get back to debugging now?” He scrunched up his nose. He really, really didn’t want to look at the screen. Especially if it meant wasting a single second that he could spend in Saul’s lap.
Saul grinned at him. “Oh, I was about to tell you that. I found the error.” Adoring Daddy was back. Was that a good sign? Maybe whatever Saul had been worried about was just for the moment. After all, this had happened pretty quickly and with minimal discussion.
It took a moment for the words to penetrate. “Wait, what? When was that?”
Saul smirked. “About three minutes before you tried to convince me that you’d been a nice boy all day.”
“So, it’s done? I mean, do we need to fix it?”
Saul ran his fingers through Levi’s hair. Such a little touch, but it seemed like everything.
“Nope. Already did. It was the new color scheme. Apparently Jazz was shifting the output ranges around at the last minute and the percentages had some gaps between them. The code was fine otherwise, as far as I can tell. Twelve hours of investigation and twelve seconds to fix it.”
“Huh. So do I have to go home now?” If there was anybody out there listening, Santa, God, the Prophet Elijah, or little green aliens, please let him have more of this.
Saul chuckled. “I think we can stay here a little longer.”
Levi snuggled back into Saul’s arms. Maybe he could stay this way forever, with Daddy gently stroking his hair. When he rested his head a bit on Saul’s shoulder and the rest on the back of the couch, they fit just perfectly together.
He could even watch Daddy hold him in the window, with the city lights shining around them like candles.

Saul
Saul pressed a kiss to the collar of Levi’s shirt, more a brush of his lips, really. His boy was snuggled against his chest, dark hair soft against his cheek. Levi was rubbing little patterns against his skin, just under the hem of his shirt, and it made him feel warm everywhere.
He still wanted to be closer.
God, holding him like this was better than he ever could have dreamed. Levi, his sweet, silly boy, was finally in his arms.
Saul hardly dared to breathe lest he scare him away. Or let the reality of the situation come crashing through.
Now that he’d had a taste, could he help but want more?
Levi had been stunning laid out over his lap, his throaty cries holding nothing back. Everything about the scene had been exactly what he would have expected from the naughty, needy sub. He’d arched into Saul’s hand, chasing the next strike. When Saul had told him not to come, it sounded like his moan had been ripped from his soul.
Having him here hardly seemed real.
Saul was still as horny as hell. It was impossible not to be with Levi finally, finally in his arms. But this wasn’t about him. He often didn’t do anything sexual in his scenes. Even with his exes, it was more the rush of Dominance that sent him soaring.
