“Oh, honey. I’m sure you and Sutton want to be together. You can share her room here,” her mother said.

He looked at Sutton. “Is that okay with you?”

“More than okay,” she said.

“Then I guess I’m staying.”

Jules cheered, and everyone spoke at once, introducing themselves and hugging him. Even Leni embraced him and said, “You better have meant every word you said, or I’ll seven iron the hell out of you.”

He met her steely gaze. “You’re a good sister, Leni. I’m glad Sutton has you watching out for her.”

She looked momentarily confused, as if she had been awaiting a smart-ass retort. Then she closed her mouth, respect rising in her eyes.

“I bet you’re hungry,” her mother said. “We have loads of food and wine, and with these girls, there’s always great conversation. Why don’t you join us?”

He glanced at Sutton. “I don’t want to interrupt your girl time. I can find something to keep me busy.”

“You should stay,” Indi said. “It’s not a bachelorette party, and it’ll give us a chance to grill you before the Steele brothers get their hands on you.”

He arched a brow at Sutton, and she nodded. “I guess I’m staying.”

As they headed inside, Bellamy and Sutton’s grandmother flanked them. “So, Mr. Discovery Hour,” Bellamy said. “Just how good are your connections with the producers of InstaLove?”

“Excuse me?” He glanced at Sutton.

“It’s a new LWW reality dating show,” Sutton explained.

“This night just got a whole lot more interesting,” her grandmother said.

HOURS LATER THEY lay in Sutton’s childhood bedroom, nose to nose, arms around each other, legs tangled together. Flynn was relieved they’d gotten past their misunderstanding and thrilled he’d had a chance to meet Sutton’s family and friends, even if under not-so-great circumstances.

“I’m really glad you’re here,” Sutton said softly, her hand sliding down to his butt.

“Thank you for asking me to stay, but you’d better keep those hands to yourself before you get us both in trouble.”

She pressed her hips forward, rubbing against his erection. “It doesn’t feel like you want me to keep my hands to myself.”

“You know I can’t get within ten feet of you without wanting you, but we’re not exactly quiet lovers, and I don’t need your amazing parents thinking I’m here as your sex toy.” He kissed her smiling lips. “I loved meeting everyone and seeing you with them. It’s obvious how much they all adore you.”

“I’m pretty lucky. Everyone loved you, too.”

“Almost everyone,” he teased. “I think Leni’s withholding final judgment until I prove myself worthy of her smart, beautiful sister.”

“I told you she was protective.”

“I’m not worried. But I am sorry about earlier. I hate the idea of you spending even one minute thinking I don’t believe in you. I know you’ve spent your life feeling like you had to work extra hard to stand out, but you’ve always stood out to me. Not just because you’re beautiful. At first, maybe, but once we started working together and I got to know your fierceness, it was so much more. I promise you, you will never have to compete for my attention or worry that I don’t think you’re the most incredible woman alive. Because to me there’s only you.” He kissed her again. “You can trust me, sweetheart, and if you ever doubt that, talk to me before you waste a second being unhappy.”

Her eyes watered. “I’ve never had anyone like you in my life before.”

“Neither have I.”

“It’s a little scary. I’m used to gathering facts and learning everything there is to know about situations before diving in headfirst, but with you, I’m throwing caution to the wind. We’re risking everything at work.”

“I know we are.” He felt a little guilty for their secret office trysts. It wasn’t fair to jeopardize her career that way. “I’ll try to keep my hands to myself in the office from now on.”

“No.” She grinned. “I like that part of us, and we’re careful. It’s just scary opening up and…”

“Developing feelings so fast?”
