“You said you had to run. I don’t want to keep you.”

I press my lips together, narrowing my eyes at him. “You’re a jerk, you know that? Thought you were supposed to be taking care of me?”

“I am. That’s why I’m being the responsible one here and telling you to get going on that tile order. You may have to wait a week or two for it to arrive.”

I huff out a heavy sigh. “I hate you, Colt Wild.”

“Aww, Trix. You really know how to flatter a guy.” He grins at me, the corners of his eyes crinkling.

Quivering from pent-up desire, I shake out my arms, adjust my shorts.

“Are you always such a tease?” I ask, licking my puffy lips.

Colt shrugs. “Nah. Only when it’s fun.”

“This is fun to you?”

“Absolutely.”

He leans in close, his lips hovering at the shell of my ear. “Besides, when I make you come for the first time, you’re going to want to be somewhere more private. I doubt you’ll stay quiet.”

My entire body shivers with excitement, his breath warm on my cheek, and I hope he doesn’t notice.

He steps back into his own space, his full lips tipping up in a confident smile. This man exudes big dick energy—not that I’d ever tell him that.

Raising a brow at him, I shake my head. “Uh-huh, whatever.”

“You better get going, Trix. Don’t worry—I’ll be here when you get back.” He smacks me lightly on the ass and I shoot him a scowl, even though I secretly love that Colt Wild wants to touch my ass.

“Make yourself useful, Wild, and figure out what else needs to be done around here.”

“I’m assuming you mean besides you.” He juts his chin out, full of swagger, and I toss my ponytail over my shoulder, flipping him the bird.

“Good—we’re on the same page then!” he calls out after me as I jog toward the door and I’m glad he can’t see my face because I’m smiling wider than I have in years.

CHAPTER 14

COLT

Ican’t stop thinking about Trix the entire time she’s gone. And not just her body, either, although that’s definitely worth a thought or two.

No, turns out I also like other things about her as well. The way her lips tip up at the corner when she’s holding back a smile, her infectious laugh, her quick wit when I’m giving her a hard time. I haven’t had this much fun with a woman in a very long time and that’s saying something because I’ve had more than my fair share of dates.

But Trix is different than all the other women I’ve been with. She’s funny and smart and has ambition beyond hooking up with some bright and shiny Hollywood star. She has life goals and a plan to get there.

That’s fucking hot.

And I know I probably shouldn’t go there—on account of the fact that she’s my best friend’s little sister—but after what happened in the bathroom this morning, I’m not sure I’ll be able to stop myself.

You’re falling for her.

No. As long as we set the ground rules—hook-up status only—it’ll be fine. Danny doesn’t ever have to know.

Yes, that’s the pitch I’m going to give her as soon as she gets back. We can hook up while I’m here, no strings attached, and her brother doesn’t need to be the wiser. Then when the shop’s renovated and the dedication ceremony’s over, I’ll head back to L.A., the two of us living out our separate dream lives.

My cell vibrates in my pocket and I hustle to answer, thinking it might be Trix.

“Hello?”
