Liam lay perfectly still; so still, I wasn’t even sure he heard me. The only sound was our ragged breathing, slowly returning to normal.

He rolled off me onto his back, then pulled me into his strong chest. I inhaled his masculine, musky scent, traced the outline of his bicep. He kissed my head, smoothing my hair away from my face.

“You already know how I feel,” he breathed, stroking my shoulder. “I want you to stay. Here, with me.”

“I know,” I sighed, a tightness creeping back into my chest.

Liam sensed my hesitation, running his hand over my bare skin, caressing my ass. “Let’s deal with the logistics later. I’m going back to Peachtree Grove for now. We still have time.”

He pressed his lips to my forehead, reassuring me.

“Okay,” I said, sleep beginning to overtake me as exhaustion from the day, the entire trip, set in.

“Sweet dreams, Mace.”

When I awoke,a few rays of sunlight seeped through the edges of the grey shades, dancing on the light wood floor. I rolled over, but Liam was gone; only a warm indent remained.

I heard the faint sound of running water coming from the bathroom; he must already be in the shower.

What time was it?I checked my watch. Only eight-thirty. Liam was definitely an early riser, considering we’d stayed up well past two last night.

Buzz.A high-pitched buzzing came from somewhere in the room, but I wasn’t sure where. I glanced around, trying to locate the sound as it echoed again.Buzz.

Only then did I notice a thin, flat white box on the wall. Liam must have a fancy intercom system.

Buzz, buzz. The insistent noise jarred me out of my sleep reverie, demanding action.

I hopped out of bed, crossing to the wall, trying to figure out what to do to stop the annoying buzzing. I jammed my finger on the touchscreen and a clear picture of a car popped up.

Shit.I hoped they couldn’t see me, since I didn’t have any clothes on. I scrounged around, grabbing Liam’s T-shirt from last night, throwing it over my head.

“Hello?” I said, not convinced anyone could hear me.

“Hi! I have a special delivery for Liam McCauliffe.” A dark-haired woman with wide eyes stared directly into the camera.

Well, now what?I was torn. Was I supposed to let strangers onto the property? Probably not.

“Hang on one sec,” I said, holding a finger up to the camera, still unsure if this was a two-way camera or not.

I jogged into the bathroom, peering through the foggy glass into the shower.Damn, Liam was hot.

“Liam, there’s someone at the gate. She said she has a special delivery for you.”

“Good morning,” he said, his eyes sliding up and down my body, appreciating me. “My shirt looks better on you than me.”

I blushed. “Thanks. But what do you want me to do about the woman at the gate?”

“I’m not expecting anything.”

“So what do you want me to do?” I asked, toying with the hem of his shirt.

“Send her away,” he said, rinsing shampoo from his hair, seemingly unfazed.

“Alright,” I said, pivoting back to the bedroom, my mission clear.

“Um, hello?” I paused, waiting for confirmation that she heard me.
