“You got the answer. It works every time.”

“But I didn’t even have a question.”

“Yes, you did. Now what was it?”

I fumbled for a way out of this. “Okay, I was deciding if I should let you kiss me again.”

He laughed. “That’s not a real question.”

“How can you say that?”

“Because you already knew the answer was yes.”

“If you don’t like my question, what was yours?”

“I can’t say. Mine is X-rated.” His words sent heat to my core.

I sat up, opened my eyes, and threw the aptly named throw pillow at him. “I am wearing underwear, if that was your question.”

We had gone from some yoga-style relaxation technique to talk that brought me back to all the things I’d like to explore with him if he wasn’t really the devil in a suit.

He laughed again. “No, that was last night’s question. And what was the answer, by the way?”

“I’m hungry.”

“Now who’s deflecting?”

“Do you have anything to eat here, or do we have to go out?”

He stood and grabbed my hand. “Stand up and close your eyes.”

I gave in and stood. “Not again.”

His arms encircled me. “Keep your eyes closed.”

He pulled me close and my chest pillowed against his, bringing back vivid memories of last night on the dance floor, last night before the fountain.

His breath was hot against my ear. “Now tell me honestly. Do you want to kiss me again?”

The heat of his body against mine would allow only one answer. I nodded.

He released me without the kiss I’d requested. “See? I was right.”

I huffed. “And you’re a tease.”

“I wasn’t the one wearing the waist-high slit last night.”

“Thigh high,” I corrected him.

He pulled me back into the house. “We’re going for a walk. Trust me. Later, I won’t be teasing you.”

The naughty implications melted my panties on the spot. “Those are dangerous words, mister.”

“Better be careful. You have no idea how dangerous I can make things. Now, let’s get going.”

“What if I like dangerous?” The statement escaped my mouth before I realized how un-Jennifer I’d suddenly become.

The smirk he wore grew to a smile. “I’m going to remember you said that. Let’s get a move on, Angel.”
