I sighed, ignoring his question. “I need to know who got into her office. And I need to know today.”

“We’ll start on it right away.”

Jennifer

I walked backfrom my second run to the coffee machine. Waiting in my empty office with nothing to do was the pits.

A security guy stood outside my door.

I ignored him and went inside.

Ed got up from a chair. “Jennifer.”

I put my cup down on the credenza. “Ed, you agreed to stay away.”

“You should have talked to me earlier, when I might have been able to help you.”

“Get out. We don’t have anything to talk about.”

“You have to come with me to the boss’s office.”

“What?”

The guy at the door made a move to enter, but Ed put his hand up to stop him. “Please don’t make this any more difficult than it already is. We need to talk to Mr. Benson.”

The other guy had a Taser on his belt.

I grabbed my coffee. “Whatever.”

Ed followed me as I walked to Dennis’s office. I’d had more Ed than I could stand, but whatever trouble he was making, I needed Dennis to straighten it out.

The door was open, so I marched in and took a seat.

Dennis looked up and put his pen down.

Ed closed the door after him, with his goon on the outside. “I need to give you some information about Miss Hanley.”

Now he was going all cop-formal on us.

Dennis nodded. “Go ahead.”

“She’s been passing information to the Cartwright people.”

“I have not,” I spat. “This is just because—”

“Jenn, let him finish,” Dennis said.

I grabbed the arm of the chair to control my anger.

Ed continued. “In addition to the meeting with Suzanne Murtog last month—”

“I explained that,” I interrupted.

Dennis’s eyes fixed me in place. “Jenn.”

“In addition, I have this photo of her dropping off a folder in a park.” Ed handed a picture to Dennis.
