Jessie:Thank you for the flowers. They’re perfect, especially the blue roses. You know just how to make me smile.

Seconds later, her phone buzzed with his reply.

Mac:You deserve them, beautiful. Can’t wait to see that smile again.

Her heart fluttered at his sweet words, but she wasn’t done yet. Slipping into the warm, bubbly water, Jessie propped her legs up, her freshly painted toenails poking through the foam. She snapped a picture of her legs and feet, making sure the setting looked just right, then sent it to Mac with a playful message.

Jessie:Already missing you. Maybe you can join me next time?

His response was almost instant.

Mac:I miss you too, sunshine. You definitely deserve that soak after our adventures last night.

Jessie giggled, feeling emboldened. She decided to take it a step further, snapping a picture of her chest, just enough skin peeking out through the bubbles to tease him. She attached the photo with another message.

Jessie:I think this bath would be better if you were here to… supervise.

Mac's reply came quickly, laced with playful danger.

Mac:You’re playing with fire, Jessie. You know exactly what’s going to happen when I get back if you keep teasing me like this.

Her pulse quickened, but she wasn’t done teasing him yet. Grinning, she took one last picture, this time spreading thedelicate blue rose petals across her chest, artfully covering her breasts, and sent it with a sultry message.

Jessie:Just wanted to remind you what’s waiting for you. Think you can handle it?

His response made her laugh and sent a thrill of anticipation through her.

Mac:Oh, I can handle it. But you should start preparing for the punishment you’ve got coming. And by punishment, I mean the kind you’ll be begging me for more of. You like your funishments, don’t you?

Her cheeks flushed as her thoughts drifted to his return. She could see it now—Mac, with that wicked, sexy grin of his, as he made good on his promise. The idea of his version of punishment sent a shiver of excitement through her. She could already imagine the sensual tension between them. He’d make her wait and tease her, driving her wild until finally giving in to what they both wanted.

When his final message came through, it left her speechless.

Mac:You should rest up, sunshine. Because when I get back, there won’t be any more bubbles between us... just you, me, and that body of yours I know so well. Hope you’ve got the stamina

Jessie stared at the phone, her playful confidence momentarily faltering as a breathless laugh escaped her.Stamina, she thought. Three days couldn’t pass fast enough.

Chapter Twelve

The coffee shop was chaos. The line was out the door, people were pushing in every direction, and the baristas behind the counter looked like they were keeping it together.

Jessie, however, stood her ground as she waited for her order to be called. She sighed as she glanced at her Rolex watch. She mentally calculated how much longer she could tolerate the cramped space before needing to bolt for the exit.

While the popular café had some of the best coffees and pastries in the city, she wouldn’t dare to go near it during the morning hours—let alone on a Monday.

However, she had pulled up her big girl panties and put a lid on her grumblings just this once. And that was only because she felt she owed it as a thank you to Lacie for signing her up on that damn dating app.

Jessie felt like rolling her eyes, thinking about how ridiculous that sounded, even though it was the truth. If it weren’t for that app, she wouldn’t be with Mac right now. Would it have happened eventually? Maybe, but it wasn’t guaranteed.

Jessie grinned. She couldn’t wait to tell Lacie how she had unknowingly reconnected her and Mac.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the barista called her name. Jessie grabbed the extra-large chai latte and the small box containing Lacie’s beloved Oreo cheesecake and happily left the small café.

The fresh autumn air hit her as soon as she stepped outside. It was a welcome contrast to the overheated, chaotic atmosphere she’d just escaped.

As she walked the two blocks to her firm's building, the sound of the city enveloped her. Horns honking, footstepshurrying along the sidewalk—it was typical Manhattan, but today, it didn't bother her. Like most people who worked, she despised Monday mornings. However, this particular Monday, she welcomed with open arms because it meant she was one day closer to seeing Mac.

During their phone conversation the previous night, they talked about planning a vacation together—time off from work, just the two of them, with no interruptions. Jessie knew what that meant—uninterrupted time for sex and lots of it. Not that she would complain. Just thinking about his hands on her body made her body temperature rise.
