It took several tries to get through, but Kara finally got Tink, and he said he was on his way.

As she laid there, she tried not to move. She needed to reserve all the energy she had left, but she could feel herself starting to fade.

It had felt like an eternity when she finally heard Tink call her name.

“Alex.”

“Tink!”

“Alex, is that you?”

“Yes.”

“Are Kara and Kendra with you?”

“Yes, they’re here, and they’re both fine, okay.”

She heard concrete being moved, and a few minutes later, Tink appeared above her, and right away, she knew by the expression on his face he understood she was far from alright. She needed to get the girls to safety first because god knew how long it would take to get her out. If she even made it out alive.

“Tink, get the girls out.”

“Alex, you need the medical attention.”

She pleaded with him. “Tink, please get them out. I don’t know how long it will take to get me out.”

“Goddammit, Alex.”

He attempted to argue with her, but then she lifted her blazer, exposing the metal coming from her chest.

“Oh fuck, baby. We need to get you out first.”

“I can’t move, Tink. I’m afraid too. It hurts so bad.”

“Shit! Hang tight.”

He crawled out the hole taking Kendra and Kara with him even though they wanted to stay with her.

When he came back, Mac was with him, and he explained that he had medic training.

“Mind if I take a look?” he asked her.

“Have at it.”

As soon as he lifted her blazer, she heard him swear, and that wasn’t encouraging.

He then asked her a series of questions. What was the scale of her pain, did she feel faint, nauseous, and other standard questions a doctor would ask.

“I think I’m pretty much fucked, Mac. I’m impaled to the floor.”

He gave her a stern look. “Enough of the negative talk.”

“We need professionals to get her out,” she heard Mac tell Tink.

Then by the grace of God, she heard sirens and prayed they were coming for her.

She took short breaths, trying to calm herself and ease the panic her body was facing. If she wanted any shot of making it out alive, then she needed to relax.

“Dammit, she’s really bleeding,” Tink said.
