“I figured you would be out here.” Potter followed Ace’s line of sight and looked up at the sky. “That is one gorgeous moon.”

Ace nodded his head. “That it is.”

Ace looked at Potter. Potter was his brother from another mother. He was someone that he shared everything with.

“Did you hear about Bear’s sister?” Potter asked.

Ace tilted his head sideways. “No. What’s going on?”

“Apparently, her helicopter went down somewhere over Mexico. The details area real sketchy right now.”

Ace sat up straight. “What? Clover?”

Potter nodded.

“I thought she was a mechanic?” Ace asked.

“Me too. As I said, there’s not much information being provided. Last I heard, they’ve listed Clover and who I’m assuming the pilot as MIA.”

“Shit. I bet Bear’s dad isn’t taking the lack of information well.”

“Irish was the one who spoke with Bear. He said none of the family was taking the news well.”

“Damn. I hope she’s alright.”

Potter set his bottle down. “So, how are you holding up here all by yourself?”

Ace leaned his head back and glanced back up toward the sky. “Is this how the women feel every time we get called out?”

Potter snickered. “Most likely. But I think our women are a lot stronger than we give them credit for. You, me, and the rest of the guys are accustomed to being the ones leaving. Hell, I still have a hard time if Tenley has to work a double at the hospital.”

Ace smirked. “It sucks.”

“That it does, my friend.”

Just then, Ace’s phone rang. When he saw Derek’s name, his gut clenched.

“Hey, Commander.”

“Hey. Sorry to bother you, but two things.” Hearing Derek sigh was never a good sign.

“What’s going on?”

“First, did you hear about Bear’s sister?”

“Yeah. Potter’s here and he just told me. That’s terrible.”

“It is. I’m trying to get some information, but it hasn’t been easy. The government is being tight-lipped.”

“Hmmm…that is strange.”

“If and when I hear anything, I’ll let you know.”

“Okay.”

“The second this is, have you heard from Alex yet?”

“I heard from her when she called earlier after they arrived.”
