"You know?"

Nodding, she smirks. "Well, Sutton kind of stopped talking to me suddenly about a month ago. I thought it was weird, but then I went to the bar where Marnie works and found them together. They had something he and I never had."

"How do you feel about it?"

"I want him to be happy. I have no ill-will towards him. We just never worked, and we never should have tried. I knew it when we got together, but I was stubborn. Not Nelson level stubborn, but still stubborn."

"Good answer," he says and lets her wrap his tattoo.

Daphne gives Dax the same speech she gives everyone, even though he's not new to the tattoo situation. He doesn't tell her she's wasting her breath and just smiles and nods while she finishes. She packs up her stuff and heads out to the parking lot to her car. Max waits at her place for her, and she needs to see him. Needs to hold him and tell him how much he means to her. Not quite the L-word yet, but getting closer.

On the way to her car, she bumps into Nelson as he looks at his phone instead of where he walks as he heads towards the clubhouse.

"Oh, ow," she says, her bag dropping.

"I'm so sorry-" Nelson stops when he realizes it's Daphne. "What are you doing here?"

Holding up her case, she shrugs. "Finished Dani's memorial tattoo for Dax. It was heartbreaking."

His face softens marginally. "Dax will never get over her loss."

"When a love is that big, I don't think it's possible to."

"I hate you, Daphne."

The confession feels like a punch to her gut. "Excuse me?"

"You humiliated me in my own clubhouse, and then you somehow got my brother to champion for you to buy out your tattoo shop. Couldn't you just stay on your side of the town, and I'd stay on mine?"

"I had no idea Max was going to bring this to the club. And I'm sorry if you feel like I humiliated you, but things were going to end with us. We were never meant for long-term anything. Even our sex sessions were getting shorter and shorter."

He scoffs, his eyes rolling. "You took pleasure in dumping me in the clubhouse like you did. Admit it."

"I didn't. I was angry, and I lost it. I'm sorry that's how you feel, but it wasn't my intention."

"Are you seeing someone?" he asks.

This feels like quicksand. "Yes."

His jaw clenches. "I bet he's everything I'm not. Some Nancy-boy who lets you just walk all over him. Someone without a backbone who listens to you bitch and moan about all of your problems all fucking night before you give him a scrap for being such a good boy."

If only he knew the man he's talking about was his brother. "That's not a good description of the man I'm with at all."

"Do you love him?"

"That's between me and him."

"Didn't take you long to move on. Were you cheating?"

Daphne's had enough. "No, I wasn't cheating. But I'm not the only one who's moved on, Nelson. You don't get to play this game and make me the bad guy for moving on like you have."

"What would you know about it?"

"I know Sutton's a better match for you than I ever was."

Eyes widening, Nelson takes a step back. "You've been spying on me?"

"Oh, get over yourself," she spits back and walks towards her car. She's done with this conversation.
