"She doesn't see me as her dad anymore."

"She does."

He shakes his head. "How can she? We both just found out that I'm not her father."

"DNA isn't everything," Colt says, and Cannon glares at him. "Trust me."

How can this asshole with two kids know anything about what I’m feeling?"You aren't your daughter's father?"

He sighs. "I am, but my wife has a surrogate father back home. Not the same situation as you, but her father wasn't a father. Not a real one where it counted. Couldn't be because of her fucked up brother, so Diesel stepped into the spot willingly. And I'm willing to bet my wife considers Diesel more of a father to her than her own."

"But she knew who her father was."

"And she needed to move here because her father let her down her entire life. But you know who hasn't? Diesel. If he called her right now and said he needed her, she'd be gone in minutes. If her father called and said the same thing, she'd demand details."

Swallowing, Cannon nods. "She feels like mine. Sutton has been my little buddy, and honestly, she's one of my best friends."

"That doesn't have to change," Rocky says. "She's still your buddy. She's still the same girl she was before her mother pulled off this shitty thing."

"Have you ever met Jennings's grandkids?" Colt asks.

Cannon shakes his head. "No, why?"

"You should go to Griffin's Beach and meet his son, Tripp. His wife, Avery, and he have three kids. It's a long, really fucked-up story, but Avery doesn't share DNA with any of the kids. Tripp's DNA is only in one of them, but if you see them with those kids, you'd never think they didn't conceive and birth those children together. She loves them like she carried each for nine months, and shit, she saved the youngest from a deranged mother about to shoot her daughter. DNA doesn't have to mean anything."

"I have questions," Snake asks. "Who's the mother of Tripp's bio kid?"

Laughing, Colt says, "A dead club bunny."

"So, he had the kid before he married Avery?"

"Nope."

"That why she's dead?"

"Nope."

"I need more information unless you want fifty more questions, man."

Laughing harder, Colt sees Lex walks in. "I think Lex could probably help you all out here."

"Uh oh," Lex says, her lean legs slowly backing herself away and towards the door. "I gotta go..."

"No," Cannon says. "Colt said some things, and I need to hear it from you."

Her eyes lock with her husband but she shrugs. "Okay...?"

"First, they're wondering about the Tripp-Avery situation with Isaac."

Groaning, she crinkles her nose and moves to sit on the top of the bar. "Why are we talking about that whore?"

"Bio parents."

"Sure, we'll pretend I know what you're talking about. Long story short, Tripp and Avery got into a fight, and she was set on fire and driven off a cliff by the Devils Advocates. She was pregnant when it all happened, and we thought she was dead. Tripp got his rocks off with the one redheaded bunny we all fucking hated, and she got herself knocked up thinking she'd be the President's new daughter-in-law. Only, Avery wasn't so dead," she says in one breath.

Snake's jaw drops, and Cannon feels a pain in his gut. "No shit?"

"No shit," she says with a laugh. “Avery returned, Melody had Tripp's baby, and then we found out it was Melody who worked with the Devils to get rid of Avery. She was the one who kidnapped my girl and set her on fire, so Tripp's mama may have returned the favor. And I scared the shit outta her, but Melody didn't realize you don't mess with mama bear. I did not participate in that shit show, but I kind of wish I had."
