“Don’t panic. We’re not stuck… yet.”

She slid the gear into reverse and stepped on the gas. “Come on, baby!” she said to her car, patting the dash.

It moved about two inches and did the same thing… the wheels spun, but nothing happened.

“Now we are,” she growled, sat back, and turned off the ignition.

“No. No. No. You have to keep trying,” I demanded.

“There’s no reason to. We’re stuck in the snow.”

“This is so embarrassing.”

I wanted to die right there… in Gianni’s driveway. That would be much easier than having to face him.

“I’m sorry, sweets, but there’s nothing I can do.” Sarah sighed.

And of course, at that very moment, there was a rap on my window, and of course, not only was Gianni staring in at us, but so were two of his brothers, and his Uncle Louie, the snore king from last night.

No doubt about it, my life just got worse… way worse.

Gianni 9

I’d gone up to my bedroom almost as soon as I opened my eyes in the morning, hoping that Dani and I could talk over what had happened between us the previous night, but she was already gone. My mother had wondered in right after me, looking for Dani. Fortunately, I’d spotted the bright red panties on the windowsill and snatched them up before my mom saw them, or I’d never hear the end of it.

I could only assume that Dani forgot them. If she’d left them purposely, they would’ve been under my pillow or my blankets and not right out in the open. Her scent wasn’t on them, not that I consciously checked, but I could tell she must’ve rinsed them out. And she was right, they couldn’t get much smaller and still cover anything.

Just seeing them on the windowsill reminded me of my passion for her, and despite her not wanting to address me by my real name at the end of our amazing night, it wouldn’t deter me from pursuing this relationship further.

Not after what we’d shared.

It was obvious by her not using my real name that she intended to stick to her resolution, and part of me wanted to respect that… but the more selfish part of me wanted to show her that she could open her PR business right here in central PA. She’d have the same amount of success no matter where she settled. I just had to find a way to convince her of that premise.

Piece of cake, like my mother would say.Easy peasy.

I chuckled at my own crazy determination.

Sexting with her had been so fucking hot last night. I’d never experienced anything like it before, and I certainly didn’t want it to be a one off. Hell, I’d never done anything like that with a woman… always been too, well, shy about it.

Not anymore.

And certainly not with Shannon.

And yet there she was, trying to escape, while I held onto the silky evidence.

Now, as my brothers and I, along with Uncle Louie stood outside the stuck Cooper Mini that she and her friend Sarah sat in, I knew Dani had no choice but to talk to me.

Christmas magic was once again in play.

Dani rolled down the window.

I bent over to speak to both women. “Sorry you’re stuck. Our driveway claims at least a handful of guests every winter. One of us usually fires up the pickup with the snowplow, but you ladies were out here before any of us had a chance. We can dig you out. If you step out of the car, we’ll have you free in no time.”

“I don’t want to ruin my shoes,” Dani said. “Can I stay in the car?”

“Not going to work, but I’ll get somebody to bring out something for you to wear.”

I called my brother Frankie, and a few minutes later, he barreled out the front door with our mother’s rubber rain boots.
