Page 80 of The Love We Make

Then I knew why.I felt why.

I felt him.

Our dance. Our sway.

He had been grinding me through his jeans and my dress and that was all it took to get him hard. Any other time, I would have yelled, “Ew,” and told him he was like a brother to me.

But that was no longer true. We were both now very aware of how hot we could get each other. How each other tasted and the things that turned us on. So instead of backing away, I unconsciously pushed back into him.

A flood of lust came over me, my body primed for him the way it now knew to be. My heart started fluttering and the butterflies in my stomach took off. Ethan let out another growl in what was probably his attempt to get himself together.

But having him fall apart made me feel powerful and sexy. I wiggled again, a tease. I wanted to push him the way he did me. He didn’t even know what he did to me but I was returning the favor. Making him crazy.

I had spent two weeks mourning our time together, our friendship, our love. Some sick part of me wanted to send him home tonight missing me just as much.

“Maddy?” He whispered as he stood still, the fast music causing people to dance into us. “What are you doing to me?”

“Dancing,” I said coyly.

Another laugh rumbled in his chest. “You’re just making sure I get traded to Cincinnati by the end of the week, aren’t you?”

I laughed. No way was this related to his poor pitching.

Or was it?

“Maddy?”

“Yeah?”

“Are you wet for me?” His voice was deep and low.

Goosebumps rose on my skin at his words. I didn’t answer with words of my own, but just a quick nod was all he needed to know the truth.

Blurred lines.

He didn’t move or say anything at my confession. We just remained still, the music changing once again around us.

“I gotta go find Ty,” I finally said, hoping to break the spell. Hoping it snapped us out of this haze we were in.

And it worked, but not in the way I imagined it would.

Ethan growled again, this time more menacingly. He grabbed tighter onto my hips and started pushing me forward. I walked but never looked back at him. I assumed he was pushing me off the dance floor, both of us headed to the VIP together. But he didn’t turn toward the steps to that area, he turned me the opposite direction—toward the bathrooms.

He pushed me down the hall and past the public bathroom doors. As we went further down the hall, it got darker and there were no more people around us waiting for the bathrooms. He turned me towards a door that read Employees Only and pushed it open, guiding me in from behind with a hand to the small of my back.

“Don’t turn on the light,” was all he said as I heard a lock click into place. There was a small emergency light on in the corner, just enough for me to see we were in a bathroom. But not enough light to see anything else.

“What are we doing here?” I asked breathlessly. I trusted Ethan with my life, but I was the kinda girl that panicked when I broke the rules. And we were in this bathroom, that was clearly for employees only, and I was worried about us breaking the rules.

Ok, I was worried abouta lotof things.

“I will let you go back to Black, Maddy. I will. But not while you are wet forme. I just cannot fucking do that.”

Confusion took over me. Did he bring me in here to make me “wipe up”? Because I swear to God I would die of embarrassment if he suggested I grab a paper towel or something.

“Hands on the counter, baby.” His voice was husky and his use of the word baby told me he was still zoned out.

I did as he told me and put my hands on the counter. He took his right hand and ran it from my knee up the middle of my leg and into the apex of my thighs. He wasted no time moving my panties to the side and running a finger through my wetness.
