I hooked my free arm around Leo. “I’m with my boyfriend.” He glanced up at me with big blue eyes that glittered like the ocean. Fuck, he was so adorable. I leaned closer to ghost my mouth over his.

“Boyfriend?” Vince’s voice sounded worried. “Is this serious? Do you want to have PR write something up about—”

“No.” I stopped him. “Please, just let me enjoy this time with Leo right now. He’s all that matters to me. He knows me better than anyone.”

Vince was typing something in the background. “Is this the same Leo you were dating in high school? The long-term boyfriend you broke up with before the tour started?”

“Yes, that Leo. The love of my life.” I tucked Leo against me, his head under my chin, and I pushed my nose into his dark hair. “We’re moving in together.”

“The NASCAR driver.” Vince had to be Googling right now. The man could multi-task with the best of them. “Are you at the track with him right now? Says they are supposed to be in Pennsylvania this weekend and that the race got pushed up a day due to inclement weather. Did you have fun? I’ve always wanted to go to a race myself.”

I inhaled Leo’s familiar scent. “You’ll have to come sometime. I know someone who can get you tickets. Maybe the Daytona 500.”

“That would be nice,” Vince commented and the clicking of the keyboard continued. “When will you be home? We’re going to need to talk in person. Tell you what, as soon as you’re back in North Carolina, shoot me a text, and I’ll get there as soon as I can.”

I felt sick. “Okay, sure.”

Once I hung up with Vince, I let the tears fall. The fear and anxiety I had been trying to fight roared its ugly head, and I buried my face in Leo’s neck and cried. He cooed softly in myear, his hands roaming over my back and through my hair. Leo told me how much he loved me, how proud he was, and that he wasn’t going anywhere.

“I...I’m.... S-sorry.” I choked out. “I don’t mean to keep breaking down like this.”

Leo clucked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and eased me down so I was lying on my side. “You’re hurting, hon. It’s okay to let this out.”

“I ruined the weekend we were having.”

“You did no such thing.”

I sniffed and wiped my cheeks roughly. “I brought all of this—”

He stopped me with a hard kiss. Leo shoved his tongue between my lips and pushed me onto my back, climbing up over my body. “You did nothing wrong, Andy. This is all because that woman, and I don’t want you trying to take the blame for her anymore. She might have given birth to you, but she was no mother.”

“Ricky.” My voice cracked as I tried to get the right words out of my mouth.

He nodded. “I know, hon, I know.”

And this time when I began to cry, I didn’t try to stop.

Chapter Thirty-Six

WAGs Chat

Maverick:Is everything all set at the house?

Matthias:Yep, Kill and I just finished setting up the balloons. Archer only popped two.

Ezra:I can’t believe I’m missing the decorating. This is so disappointing. I live for that shit. On a happier note, I think Leo and Andy are going to love what you had done to the guesthouse, Mav.

Dean:It looks good. It’s amazing what some fresh paint and new furniture can do to a place. Not that it wasn’t beautiful before.

Maverick:The boys can fix it up the way they really want once they officially move in, but I figured this was a head start. A nice little homecoming.

Blake:Mav, the grill you have is more than impressive. Remind me to ask you where it came from. I think Tommy and I could use one.

Dean:Didn’t you just get a new grill?

Blake:Uh, yeah, but the Olsons’ grill is way better. It would be fun to have the same one, right? Twins or whatever.

Felix:That’s not how being a twin works.
