Jordan ignored them and turned back around. It had been a feeble request. Iker would be telling everyone. She would deal with it later.

She put a little more pep in her step and headed toward her car. She did have a date and she couldn’t wait to see his reaction to her outfit.

Better yet, she couldn’t wait for him to peel her out of it.

But first she had to make the stop at her place.

“Dad! Why didn’t you tell me you were going to be on TV?” Nova screeched from the family room.

Rhys finished coming down the stairs and headed in her direction. He hadn’t remembered to ask the news crew when the story would be on. He ran a hand through his still-damp hair. He and Jordan had plans to go out for dinner tonight. It had been entirely too long since he’d seen her, and he was getting a little anxious to hold her again.

Rhys arrived in the family room where there were two oversized couches and his eighty-inch television that he was proud of. Watching the games on it was an experience. Nova had scoffed at the size of it, but now he always found her in front of it watching her favorite shows and movies. He leaned against the doorjamb and shrugged.

Nova and Honor were snuggled up on one couch with blankets surrounding them. Honor lifted her head from where she was lying and curiously looked over at him. She was completely off duty tonight and could just be the family dog.

“I didn’t know when it was going to be aired,” he replied honestly. He pushed off and walked into the room. “Did you see it?”

“Oh, I saw it, and Dad…” She ended her words on a whine. Her pink hair was pulled up into a bun on top of her head. “Why are my friends and everyone online calling you the sexy cop?”

“Wait, what?” He perched onto the other couch and grinned at her dismay.

She shot him her evil eye that had him chuckling.

Jeez, who would think he was a hot cop? He hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary.

“Seriously. Do you know how many text messages I’ve gotten? Or people hitting me up in my DMs on all my social medias asking if that hot cop on the news was you?” Rhys laughed at her dramatics as she flopped back onto the couch. Honor gave a little bark and readjusted herself to where she could sniff at Nova as if to check to make sure she was okay. “I even recorded it.”

She sat up and brought up the interview. She gave him her evil eye again then hit ‘play’ on the remote. The interview began. Rhys didn’t see anything wrong with it.

“If you are stopped by a K9 officer and his partner, never run away from them.”

“What is that?” Nova paused the recording and pointed at the television.

“What’s wrong with that? I just pushed my glasses off my face?” he asked. He couldn’t believe he was under scrutiny by his daughter over an interview.

“You are flirting with the camera. Does Jordan know this?” Nova folded her arms in front of her.

Rhys barked a laugh. Nova had lost her marbles. He stood from his position and walked over to her.

“I was not flirting with the camera,” he murmured. He leaned down and kissed her forehead.

Nova rolled her eyes and let out a heavy sigh.

“And I can’t help that people think I’m sexy.”

“Can you please not say that?” Nova grumbled. She yanked the blanket, but it didn’t budge due to Honor lying on top of it. “Hey, give me some.”

Honor whined and stood on the couch and moved out of the way so Nova could bring more of the fabric to her. Once Nova was done rearranging it, Honor took her seat again on the couch and flopped down.

“I’m going out with Jordan tonight,” Rhys announced and began walking toward the door. He snagged his phone out of the back pocket of his jeans and scanned the screen.

No messages from Jordan.

He just hoped she didn’t have to work over.

“So that means me and Honor won’t need to wait up for you?” Nova said.
