“Not sure what the point of this meeting is, but it better not take long,” Shane King growled, settling in his chair at the head of the table. He was a busy man, and a meeting with legal was a pain in the ass. The lawyers were always boring in nature, and their legal jargon was a foreign language. All Shane ever wanted to know was where to sign and if a deal was legal.

That was it.

He trusted his lawyers. They were compensated very well to ensure that he and his company stayed out of legal hot water.

This meeting would be a waste of his time. If Finton was stepping back and had found his replacement, then Shane would be willing to accept the person without question. Finton Ingram had been the staff counselor for King Steele Industries for decades, working alongside Shane’s father in the beginning days of their business. He thought it was great that Fin could semi-retire. His own father had done it years ago and had been enjoying life since.

“Calm down,” his brother murmured, sitting in the chair to his left.

He glanced at Trevor and was met with cool blue eyes that mirrored his own.

“This is important. The new attorney will come in, meet with us, and then you two will meet alone briefly. That’s it. You know Fin wouldn’t just send over anyone to replace him.”

He nodded to people as they filed into the boardroom and took their seats around the long table. A woman and man dressed in uniform walked around the room ensuring everyone had refreshments.

Shane glanced down at his watch, seeing they still had about twenty minutes or so until the meeting was officially supposed to begin. His gaze wandered over to the wall of glass that gave them a perfect view of Downtown Cleveland. The skyline had a perfect blue sky as the backdrop.

He’d had plans that included picking up a female for dinner tonight. At the moment, he couldn’t remember her name, but he was looking forward to some feminine company that would probably end up with a pleasurable release for both of them.

“He does know what time the meeting starts?” Shane muttered, glancing back at Trevor.

“I’m sure she does.” Trevor chuckled, edging his chair closer to Shane.

“She?”

“You didn’t read Fin’s last email completely, did you?” His brother cocked his eyebrow.

Shane shook his head and leaned toward his brother. Why would he read the entire email? It announced Fin’s plans and that he would introduce them to his replacement.

“You remember that Walsh and Ingram is now Walsh, Ingram & Ingram. His daughter, Avarie, made partner in their firm. She’s our new in-house staff counsel.”

Shane leaned back, impressed. He had remembered Fin mentioning his daughters, one a lawyer and one a physician. He hadn’t realized Fin had been grooming his daughter to take over the company.

“Will she be up to speed and can handle our account?” he asked.

Silence spread around the room. Everyone’s attention was captured by the newcomer.

Shane’s gaze moved to the door, and immediately his breath escaped him. A woman with a caramel complexion stood in the doorway in a black power suit that stopped just above her knees. Her heels were high, and his cock stiffened. They were black like her suit, but they screamed expensive.

His gaze made its way back to her face, and he was blown away by her beauty. Her eyes held a look of defiance as they met his head-on. Her hair was pulled up on top of her head in one of those practical buns. His fingers itched to pull it apart and watch the cascade of dark hair spread out on his crisp white pillowcases.

He blinked to clear that train of thought. This was Fin’s daughter. Shane shifted in his chair, trying to will his cock to go down, but it had a mind of its own.

She quirked her eyebrow, clearly knowing the men in the room were assessing her.

This one had spunk.

“I take it I’m in the correct room?” Her voice was husky and echoed through the air. Her gaze roamed the room, taking in the men who surrounded the table.

“Yes, Ms. Ingram. Welcome,” Shane’s assistant, Oliver, was the first to move from his seat. He guided her to the other end of the table across from Shane. “Please have a seat.”

Shane had yet to take his eyes off the woman. His focus lingered on her curves, and he had to fight to keep his imagination from running.

He wanted her.

“I hope you gentlemen don’t mind that I brought my assistant with me to take notes,” she breathed, sitting things down on the table.
