“Shane King, the eldest son of the company’s founder, Lee King. His brother, Trevor, is the C.O.O. Between the two, they’ve been at the forefront of the business for almost ten years now,” Jasmine replied.
“That’s a great story, but I want details about him. Anything that would be an issue?” She crossed her legs and waited. If she was going to working with this man closely, she needed to know everything and anything about him.
“Well, from the gossip columns I did gather some information.” Jasmine coughed, and again a blush spread across her cheeks.
She must have found some juicy details.Avarie laughed to herself. Her secretary was easy to embarrass, and Avarie enjoyed bringing a little spice to Jasmine’s day.
“I knew you would want dirt, but it’s more smut than anything I found.” Jasmine shrugged. She glanced up and rolled her eyes. “You’re going to make me read this out loud, aren’t you?”
Avarie nodded, her smile growing. What could be so embarrassing to read about someone in the gossip columns? Most of the information there was false anyway.
“Shane King, thirty-nine years old, is one of the most eligible bachelors in the country. He goes through women faster than I can certainly keep up. No legal trouble. He’s filthy rich, a player, drives fast cars, and from the looks of the pictures online, he likes to travel.”
Avarie absorbed the information and knew what type of man she’d be dealing with. She’d seen his type a million times and would prepare herself. From Jasmine’s report, he would be arrogant, selfish, and would be a shrewd businessman who thought the sun set around him.
Because of her parents’ hard work and sacrifice, she and her sister Kelsey had grown up amongst the spoiled and privileged. Her parents were firm believers in hard work, and nothing was ever handed to her. The foundation her parents gave her, helped her reach all of her goals and dreams in life. It would never be said that Avarie Ingram got to where she was because of her last name.
“Well, he sounds like a real treat,” she uttered sarcastically.
