“I don’t think you’re evil. I think you can be overbearing at times.”

“Employees need a firm hand.”

“Not an asshole,” I mumble.

“Pardon?”

“Nothing. You kiss well. I’m surprised you couldn’t find another woman.”

“Kissing has nothing to do with my selection. Neither does what I can do in bed. You might find out if you can’t hold off.”

“Is that what you’re hoping?”

“I have self-control. I can last without sex for the length of our marriage. I won’t forsake our vows.”

“I never said you would.”

“What would you like to eat?” Foster asks, changing the subject.

“I’m not hungry.”

“I saw what you ate for lunch, and it wasn’t adequate. You need to be sharp for our conversation.”

“You never said there would be conversation.”

“We need to discuss the timeline. When will you move in with me?”

I bite my bottom lip. “I hadn’t planned to do it so soon.”

“The sooner, the better. We need to look like a real couple.”

“When would you like me to move in?”

“This upcoming week. I can hire some men to move your things.”

“I have no furniture, only stuff.”

“They can box your stuff. You’ll be moved in one day.”

“I need to talk to Zane and Lana. She’s pregnant, and I can’t disrupt her. She can barely move.”

“You’re going to be an aunt?”

I smirk. “And you’re going to be an uncle.”

“I guess so. I’m not good with children.”

“Does that mean you don’t want them?”

“Probably not. I didn’t have a good role model growing up. My father was busy with work.”

“What about your mother?”

“Mother’s don’t make up for what you need from your father. She was wonderful, but I needed him, and he wasn’t there. I’m afraid I’ve become him.”

“There’s still time to change. Didn’t Erika want children?”

Foster frowns. “Why bring her up?”
