Matty shrugs. “It’s true. Look at Lexi. They’re the same age, and she’s married with two kids. Olivia has a lot of catching up to do.”

Silently, I turn and walk away. I was preventing Olivia from finding her forever, man. I wasn’t sure I could be that for her. I slip back under the covers and stare at the ceiling. Noah joins me a few minutes later.

“Don’t listen to Matty,” he instructs. “He’s drunk.”

“But he knows his sister. I should just stay away from her.”

“Is that what you want?”

“No, but it’s not about what I want. She has a say too.”

I move over as Noah slides into bed. Seconds after his head hits the pillow; he is snoring. I wasn’t going to be able to sleep since I already put in a solid seven hours. I wait until the voices in the living room go quiet before I get up and take a seat at the dining table. I don’t know what I want anymore.

Even with several of the guys sporting hangovers, everyone orders hearty breakfasts from room service. I still feel nauseated—not from the alcohol, but from seeing Olivia with the guy at the club, so I eat very little despite having only had breakfast yesterday. I wonder if she took him to bed the way she had me. The thought is heart-wrenching.

At noon, we venture downstairs and gamble for a couple of hours. Even though I lost two hundred bucks, I end up walking away from Foxwoods with four hundred twenty dollars more than I came with. Everyone but me sleeps on the limo ride home. Preoccupied, I keep scrolling through the last text exchange I had with Olivia.

Noah and I are let out of the limo first once we arrive back in Manhattan. When we get upstairs, we find Vivian sitting on the couch with a bag of ice on her head.

“Don’t laugh,” she orders when she sees my smirk. “I drank a little too much last night.”

Noah kisses her cheek while I drop my bag off in my bedroom. When I return, he is sitting next to her, looking at her phone. She informs me she took a lot of pictures of everyone at the clubs they visited. I sit on the other side of her, and she hands me the phone. I frown when I notice how the blonde-haired man was not only with them at another club, but again, had Olivia hanging onto him.

“Luc, what’s the matter?”

“Nothing,” I say as I give the phone back to her.

“You don’t look good,” she insists.

I jump to my feet and leave. She calls after me, and I hear Noah tell her to leave me alone. I close the bedroom door and sit on the bed, scrubbing my face. Olivia wasn’t going to wait for me, and the realization of that sucked. For the rest of the night, I sulk even though Noah and Vivian were leaving in the morning.

I have an interview planned with a woman from Futile tomorrow and decide not to go to the office—both then and for the entire week. I didn’t officially have a title anyway, and Zane could do without me. I wouldn’t be able to face Olivia. This weekend was going to be torture. I would still see her at the dinner, the wedding, and the send-off brunch on Sunday. After that, I could pick and choose when I see her.
