“I’m not asleep yet if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Are you in bed yet? I bet I can guess what you’re wearing.”
“I thought we were going to talk?”
“We are talking. Can I guess?”
“If you must.”
“I bet you’re in a t-shirt and panties. One of those short t-shirts that show your stomach. Am I right?”
Dammit, he is. Why did I tell him to guess because now he has that image in his head? It was a gimme anyway because I always wore t-shirts and panties to bed when we were together. That’s if I wasn’t naked after sex with him, which was almost nightly.
“Too easy. I always wear that to bed.”
“I bet you’re wearing a sexy little pair of panties, or is it a thong?”

“I don’t know. What else is there?”

“Yes, what are you wearing?”
“Nothing, I’m completely naked.”
I’m startled by his admission, and my mind starts wandering.
“Lexi? Did you fall asleep on me?”
“No, I was just thinking about something. Why are you naked?”
“Because Brianna isn’t home, and I can do whatever I want when she’s not home. I prefer to be naked, but she accuses me of trying to push her into sex. It’s been over two months since we had sex, God forbid she throws me a mercy fuck once in a while.”
I almost laugh at poor sex-starved JC. “Think of it this way, at least you don’t have to worry if she picked up a disease from one of her side dishes.”
I feel horrible the minute the words come out of my mouth, but I can’t take it back.
“You’re right; I should be thankful. At least if she ends up pregnant, she can’t blame me.”
“JC, are you sure about ending your marriage?”
“Absolutely. I made my decision. Neither of us is happy. As far as I’m concerned, this is a marriage of convenience.”
