My blood boiled as I held his throat tight and put my mouth next to his ear. “We're supposed to be protecting the vulnerable, not attacking them. You broke the society code.”

“She's not worth it,” he choked, “I didn't get very far anyway.”

Releasing him, I stared into his eyes as he panted. “I can assure you that she's worth it. Your defence is weak, you are weak. As you know, we only accept strong men with a desire to save their person. We would never take by force. I banish you from the society.”

Finley scoffed as he straightened his immaculate white shirt. “You don't have the power to do that now, do you?”

“Yes, I do.” Going back to my desk, I collected a piece of paper and turned to hand it to the scoundrel. “An email confirmation from the boss. You're out.”

Muttering under his breath, Finley took the paper from me, running his gaze over the words. “Shit. You're an arsehole. Why didn't you give me the chance to explain before emailing him? There's the motto and the code, but men shouldn't rat each other out.”

“You never did grasp what we stand for, did you?” My sneer was met with the twisting of his lips.

“You're archaic.” Clearing his throat when I raised my eyebrows, he shook his head. “Maybe I'll start my own society for powerful young men, not old men who can’t get it up.”

Turning, he headed for the door. I bit my bottom lip before swallowing, ready to chase him down if needed. When my silence followed his footsteps, he paused by the door, his fingers gripping the handle. The slump of his shoulders told me much more than his words. He knew that it was game over for him.

“Finley?”

He looked over his shoulder, his eyebrows pulled low in a scowl. “I know what will happen to me if I dare to speak a word of this place. I value my life.”

“She's mine, did you know that?” My tone was sharp, angry.

His shoulders lifted and he glared at me. “Why the fuck didn't you tell me? I wouldn't have touched her if I'd known she was yours. I might be a little loose with my morals, but I'm true to my word, my oath.”

“You broke the oath to protect all those who are worse off than us.” Inhaling deeply, I clenched my hands into fists in an effort to stop from pounding them into his face. “You also disrespected a girl who gave you no sign that she wanted your cock. Why, exactly, did you become a member?”

As he turned to face me, he glanced around the room, his gaze lingering on the pulled curtain. No one knew what was behind my secrecy veil, but they could probably guess. They knew me well enough. I wasn't the type of man who enjoyed a vanilla life... ever.

“You inspired me.” His clipped reply was followed by a snort.

Blinking slowly, I tilted my head to the side. “How?”

“That's your problem, you're so stuck up your own arse, searching for someone to own, you forget to look around you.” Running a hand through his floppy hair, he cocked his head to the side to match my own gesture. “I saw the talk you gave at the university. When I stumbled upon a design course that got me excited, I signed up right away. Except, I didn't quite have the talent you did, so I dropped out. Not long after, I attended this club with a few friends and stumbled upon your dirty secret.”

“Your father is a very good friend of mine,” I said, choking down the rising tide of ire, “that's the reason you found out about this place. Not even he knows what happens here.”

Waving a hand in dismissal, Finley stared at a painting above my head. It was a copy of the Birth of Venus bySandro Botticelli. I didn't need to crane my neck to know what he was looking at. The image of the woman, naked and vulnerable in a shell, had been emblazonedin my mind. It was the epitome of what turned me on.

“As you might not know, I stumbled upon your secret when hunting for the toilets.” Winking, the cocky fucker turned to leave. “And boy, was I jealous of your equipment. It made the teenager inside me want to orgasm instantly.”

“Okay.” I strode over to him and yanked the door open. “It's time for you to leave, for good. Don't ever come back.” Leaning close as he passed me, I spoke into his ear. “And you know what happens to those who dare to break the pact, even after expulsion.”

Finley's throat bobbed as he glanced at me sideways. “I'll be back,” he declared, his face dropping, “I can't be excluded from my friends, it won't work.”

“You should've thought about that before you tried to defile my girl.” Growling low in my throat, I reached for his elbow and squeezed, hard. “You're lucky you're still alive.”

“Watch out,” he replied, wrenching from my grip, “or you might just find yourself falling down the hierarchy.”

Marching away, Finley kept his head up and his shoulders squared. The dipshit had only been allowed to leave on his two feet because I had to show a sense of decorum. He had been right, I hadn't declared Lola as mine, which meant she was fair game. However, that didn't mean that he could take what wasn't freely offered.

The entrance door flung closed behind Finley and I turned back to my office. My gaze traced the beauty of Venus, up on the wall, as I wandered to the curtain that hid the corner of the room. The pent-up anger threatened to spill over onto the next person who pissed me off if I didn't do something about it.

“Oh, Lola,” I breathed, pulling open the curtain to reveal my pride and joy.

A sex swing hung from the ceiling, the black leather reflecting the dim warm white light from above. The brown leather sofa that lined the back wall had arm cuffs drilled into the wall above it, spaced apart just the right amount to trap my prey, to hold my angel. A bed was folded up into the wall, tied by soft silk straps that were used to fasten a person's arms and legs to the bed when it was down. A television was fixed to the wall opposite the bed, big and blank, ready for me to watch whenever I wanted.

“Lola,” I muttered, taking up the control and flicking the screen on, “you're so fucking beautiful.”
