Tingles started somewhere down there, spreading as I pushed my pelvic bone into his. The grinding shortened my breath and I dropped my head, closing my eyes as the gorgeous, but forbidden, orgasm started to clench my insides. The bastard who had ruined my life flashed into my mind, so I snapped my eyes open and focused on Joe, whose head was leaning back against the wall as his eyes rolled into the back of his head.

Yes. Seeing him trying to control himself sent me over the edge and a bolt of sweetness flung out from me. I went still as my pussy pulsed around him and the deliciousness made my whole body shake violently.

A sob exploded from me as the ebb started, bringing me crashing down to Earth. I jumped off Joe, trying to reverse away from him, but not getting very far. He grabbed me back onto his lap and forced me to stare into his eyes by holding the sides of my face.

“Don’t see this as weakness,” he said, his eyes hard.

Tears streamed down my face as the demons swum in my mind, taunting me and telling me that I wasn’t good enough for this. For him.

Blinking slowly, Joe waited until my sorrow had eased. “See this as a way of retaking your power.”

“Power?” I asked, frowning.

Nodding, he licked his lips and smiled. “Your inner demons have been draining you. You’ve just told them to fuck off by taking what you needed. That’s taking back power. However, you do have a long way to go.”

“I thought it was healing.” Glancing down at his hard prick, I winced. “Although, I violated you, I think.”

He shifted me to the side and tucked himself away before holding me closer again. I curled into a ball on his lap, trying to ignore the pulsing of his manhood beneath my backside.

“Trust me,” he said, holding back a smile, “you didn't take from me what I wasn’t willing to give. I regret that your first time wasn't tender, but you’re right, I'm here to heal you.”

“You are?” Looking up at him, I stared into his bright eyes.

Shrugging, he kissed my forehead. “I think you’re my angel. And I’m the demon who can calm your inner pain.”

Chapter Twelve

Joseph

My angel had arrived. Many of my friends from the society wanted someone who would submit to them instantly, without a fight. They used their person to satiate their desire to own someone. The men, like Finley, were immature and unsure what the protector society motto really meant.

I sat back in my chair and studied the red velvet curtain that was pulled across the corner of the office. My club had been an impulse buy when I’d been searching for something to dull the ache of loneliness. My heart had turned to ice the day my father had left me standing in a pool of my mother’s blood.

“He’s here,” Jerry announced as he opened the door.

Straightening up in my chair, I ran my hand down my royal blue tie and inhaled sharply. Every inch of my body was aching to beat the shit out of the man who was about to walk through the door. But that wasn’t how the society worked.

“Finley,” I bit through my teeth.

Shaking his hair out of his eyes, he came and stood in front of my desk.

The dark oak shiny beast was lined with tree green felt and lit up by an old fashioned green and gold lamp. I had a thing for the classic look. It was a good job I'd gone for a wide desk; it was the only thing keeping me from beating the arrogant twerp who stood in front of me.

“Why am I here?” he said, glancing around at the two brown leather sofas and the gold framed paintings on the wall. “Summoned like a fucking schoolboy.”

My hands clenched the edge of the desk as my ire grew deep in my chest; the hairs on my arms stood up.

“I heard there was an incident last night.” My tone was cool, yet inside I barely controlled the anger that seeped into every nerve of my body. It was against society policy to turn on one another, but I hadn't factored in Finley's arrogance when I'd pressed for him to join.

“No,” he muttered, “nothing happened.”

The muscles in my legs tensed as I pushed up into a stand and came around the desk, leaning against it as I faced him.

“That's not what it looks like on the CCTV.”

“Dude,” he started, frowning, “it's got nothing to do with you what I do. Are you fucking spying on us now? You're not the bloody boss.”

Like a panther, I sprung, propelling my body towards him and slamming his puny frame against the wall. He gasped as his spine hit the hard brick, rattling the door next to us.
