“Yes, but am I girlfriend?”

I chuckled and wiped my fingers down the corners of my mouth. “Yes, Malaysia, you’re my girlfriend.”

“I just wanted to be sure.”

“I’m not sure why you didn’t already know.”

“Well, I know you said I belonged to you but—”

“Girl, you been my girlfriend since I airdropped you my number at the kitchen.”

She giggled and wrapped her arms around my neck. “Then yes. I just wanted to know what we were first. I’ll stay here with you. I-I want to stay here with you.”

“I’m glad you came to that decision because if you said you were leaving, I was just going to kidnap your ass and keep you here.”

“That’s kind of what I expected you to do—ah!”

The squeals and giggles she released as I shifted her against me and saturated her with kisses was like a balm on parts of my broken heart and shattered soul. She was so ticklish I could barely touch her stomach and arms in certain places and she not combust with laughter. There were parts of me that being with her healed… parts of me that were burned and broken in ways I hoped she never had to know about or understand. When I was with her, we didn’t even have to speak. Just being in her presence soothed me.

I wouldn’t say she was my everything. I wouldn’t say she was my only source of peace. What I would say was that she was like a mirror to me—showing me the things I’d been working hard to be for myself. She amplified what and who I was, and for that, I was grateful.

There was a darkness that covered me… not because of who I was but because of what I did. Malay was light to me. Light for me. She shined on me. I was grateful to God for that.

“Are you sure, pretty lil baby?”

She looked down at the stencil once more. Malaysia released a shaky breath as she nodded. “I’m positive. This is what I want.”

“Look at you being a big girl,” Enjell teased.

When she found out her sister was about to get her first tattoo, she pulled up with Dejvi. I didn’t know what Malaysia planned to get until she sat in my chair. It was a cute representation of us both—a small bouquet of roses wrapped around a vase. No one would know the tattoo was an ode to us unless they knew us.

“Shut up before I change my mind,” she said through her laugh. “I’m scared it’s going to hurt.”

“A wrist tattoo ain’t that bad, bae. If you want me to stop, I’ll stop.”

“Okay. Let’s just do it before I change my mind.”

And we did. It took me all of thirty minutes or less to get it done. When I was done, I cleaned and shaved my wrist then put her name there. That wasn’t planned, but I wanted her on me… so I put her there. Her thumb caressed the space under her name as her eyes watered. She giggled and gave me a kiss as she wrapped my arm around her waist.

“I can’t believe you just tatted my name on you.”

“It’s already tattooed on my heart. Why not?”

The pout that covered her face made my dick harden. “You really like me, huh?”

“Duh.” Though her laugh made me laugh, I was serious. “I ain’t showing you that?”

“Yes, but… sometimes you do stuff that makes that undeniable.”

After she kissed the tattoo, she pulled her vibrating phone out of her pocket. As she gasped, she scurried out of the room.

“The heck was that about?” Enjell asked.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” I replied, then told them to join me in the lounge. We chilled there for a while before Malaysia came in wearing a wide smile.

“Bae!” she yelled, rushing over to me. “You have a meeting at nine Monday, but after that, we’re not going to schedule anything on the calendar for the next two days.”

“Okay, but what’s going on?”
