“That was Cheyanne. She’s working as an art buyer for Saveth in The Hills.” Malay took my hands into hers. “I sent her some pictures of your pottery to see if she could get Saveth to put some in her gallery. They want to meet with you at Divine to talk about a consignment deal.”

I didn’t realize I was just staring at her until she waved her hand in my face.

“Did I break him?” she asked playfully, looking back at my brother.

“I don’t know. This is the first time I’ve seen his ass this quiet,” Dejvi replied, snapping me out of my trance.

“You did what?” I asked, cupping her cheeks and tilting her head.

“I—the pott—”

I kissed the words from her lips. “You did what?”

Her expression softened. “Was that okay?”

“You know how you said no one was helping you with your dream?” She nodded as I pulled her closer. “I didn’t even tell anyone about mine. Tattooing was my safe bet when it came to art. I’ve always wanted to pursue it but didn’t have the courage to. I never would have tried to get my pieces in a gallery on consignment or any paintings. Thank you for this, bae. It means more to me than you will ever know.”

“You were that for me. I want to be that for you too.” She kissed my freckles and my chin. “My seer. Dream maker. You deserve that too.”

“Why don’t we give them some privacy,” Enjell said as I lowered my lips back to Malay’s. I didn’t care if they stayed or not. An audience wasn’t going to stop me from doing what I wanted to do.

Malay wrapped her legs around my waist as I lifted her into the air. When I heard the door close, I pressed her back against the sofa long enough to reach between us to remove the clothing that acted as a barrier. I needed to be inside of her, one with her, now… and by the way she tugged on my sweats, she was on the exact same wave.

Malaysia

We’d flown to San Diego for a date. Yesterday, after spending the evening on the beach, we did a tequila tour and caught a comedy show. This afternoon, Aspen said he had another surprise for me. Even with all the ideas that had run through my mind, I wasn’t expecting this. Not a helicopter ride to Temecula for lunch at a winery.

The coastal views were beautiful on the way there. Then, we spent two and a half hours at the winery. After that, we headed back using a different route that highlighted mountain views.

“This was perfect, bae,” I said, holding his hand as we headed to the black SUV that awaited us. “Stepping out of that helicopter and having that private experience was so fun! I’ll never forget this. You always do things that make me feel special.”

“That’s my job. I know this might sound corny, but I really be thinking of things I can do and places I can take you to get this kind of reaction out of you. I love making you happy.”

“I wanna do the same for you. How can I make you happy?”

“Having you makes me happy. Spending time with you makes me happy. That’s truly all I need.”

That wasn’t good enough, but I’d accept it for now. Aspen was the kind of man you had to learn to spoil because he wouldn’t just tell you what he wanted. I was cool with that, and I was looking forward to getting to know him in ways that allowed me to serve him and cater to him in ways that no one else could.

One Week Later

I didn’t think there was a perfect day, a perfect weekend, but my woman and I had just had one. We went to Vegas and spent the weekend smoking, eating good, and doing the adventurous shit other women had been too scared to do with me. Ziplining, horseback riding, ATVs, hiking trails… we did it all… and I loved literally every minute of it. We were so drained today we decided to spend the day chilling in our suite since we flew back home tomorrow.

We went to the spa and got massages before ordering room service. I was fighting to stay awake long enough to eat. What also made this weekend special was that Malaysia had planned it. She gave me her time and attention for a weekend of fun, and I’d forever remember this trip. I was a simple man, but effort and gestures meant a lot to me. I didn’t think there was anything she could do to make me like her more… but this was it.

Even though she tried to talk me out of it, I sent her what I thought would cover the cost of the trip via Zelle and something extra just to spoil her. Because I hadn’t told her that was what I was going to do, I’d been waiting anxiously for her to grab her phone to see the notification. She’d been so caught up in the book we were reading together on her Kindle that she hadn’t been thinking about her phone. I’d fucked around and read three chapters without her. Now I had to wait for her to catch up so we could start at the same place again together. It probably wasn’t going to be today unless the food gave me some energy.

“Okay, bae. I’m done,” she said, setting the Kindle on her lap and grabbing her phone off the nightstand. Her brows wrinkled and lip poked out before her nostrils flared. “Aspen! I told you not to send me no money. This weekend was my gift to you. To us.”

“It can still be that even with me paying.”

“It’s not the same,” she whined as I got in bed next to her. “I wanted to do it all.”
