Chapter Thirty

Even though thereis no promotion that will be accompanying me for giving this presentation, I still wanted to present it professionally.

I stayed at my place to make sure that I didn’t have any distractions all week from Quinn. However, distractions came in the form of job offers from two other agencies with two similar jobs that I have wanted so bad.

I tweaked my presentation from its original form because some of the content that I presented ideas during my recent job interviews was in there, and I didn’t want the similarity to be apparent if I chose to take one of the new positions with another magazine.

And I know that I need to make my decision as soon as possible.

Taking a new job, would give me a higher position than what I currently have.

Taking a new job, will open up the possibility of my relationship no longer needing to be secretive.

Taking a new job will enhance my resume with another well known magazine.

I would absolutely love to not call Quinn by John when talking about the guy I’m dating with Shane and Olivia.

Taking the new job would be a step in a new direction and can be completely nerve-wracking as well as exciting.

“Any questions?”I turn around and cap the dry-erase marker in my hand.

Quinn sits at the head of the table opposite of me with a neutral look on his face. To his sides are the marketing directors and the art department.

“And you work in which department?” the woman to his right asks.

“I work in your department ma’am. I’m one of the designers of copy.”

“Oh,” she looks down at her notes with embarrassment.

Quinn has his hand covering his curved lips and then sits up straight.

“Thank you, Ms. Matthews. If no one else has any additional questions, then I would like to bring in Mr. Walsh.”

“I have a question,” One of the senior editors ask looking towards Quinn. He motions for her to continue and she looks at me.

“Yes, ma’am?” I wait fiddling with the marker cap.

“This design you are speaking of looks pretty bold and bright, when our standard design has implemented simplicity. Why would you suggest going bolder?”

“I think that there is niche that we can capture with the younger generation. More and more people are not marrying young or having children, and they’re spending more time focusing on themselves. Bold colors appeal to this generation, more so than the simple one.”

“Did you do market research with this or is this something that you made up?” the woman continues to question.

“No ma’am, I didn’t make that up. I requested data from our analyst team for this presentation.”

“Very well. Just needed to make sure. Thank you, Ms. Matthews, your time is appreciated.” The woman says looking down at the papers in front of her.

“Thank you all, for this opportunity.” I say and place the marker on the table.

I walk out of the conference room and straight to my desk, where Olivia and Shane are chatting, waiting for me. They look up as I approach and step out of my way as I move to my desk chair.

“So?” Shane prompts.

“Well, I mean it went well, the woman who overlooks this department currently, had no clue that I worked here, or under her.”

“Seriously?” Olivia’s jaw drops.
