“I doubt that will happen,” I tell him.

“And how would you know that?” Shane pouts.

“I saw him with a woman after work one day.” I lie.

“Maybe he’s bi, once he gets to know me better, he’ll be hooked. Like I went fishing.”

I laugh, hoping that I don’t show that I know intimately the truth about Quinn. I can’t.

“I’m not sure if I find Mr. Montgomery attractive. He’s too lean and pretty for me. I like my men with thighs that could crush me. Also, I’m a little more partial to tattoos and Mr. Montgomery looks like someone who would despise tattoos.” Olivia states.

We ate and drank a little more than we should have on a Thursday evening, but it was a nice change, and by the time my Uber brought me home, I was not solidly on my feet and I somewhat wished that I was walking into Quinn’s place instead.

Instead, I stumble into my bedroom, toe off my shoes and throw my clothing on the floor. I grab my purse and find my phone inside, and dial for Quinn.

“Are you just now getting home?” He asks in a tired tone.

“Yup.” I hiccup.

“Are you drunk?”

“I don’t know. I might have had a drink or five.”

“Cute. You’re drunk dialing me.”

“What?” I ask.

He chuckles lightly and I hear the rustling of fabric on his end. “How much did you really have to drink?”

“I had a lot of a little.” I tell him. “We went out for drinks and one thing led to another. I just kept drinking to avoid talking.”

“That’s interesting. So, does that mean you told them about me?” he asks.

“Almost. But you did become a topic at one point.”

“Tell me more?”

“No, that would defy friend rules. I can’t tell you their secrets, just like there are some of mine that I can’t tell them. You know, like us.”

“One day we will publicly be together, you know that, right?” He asks.

“Yeah, when I get a new shiny job,” I say then quickly cover my mouth.

“What?” He asks.

“Nothing, I’m drunk. Gotta go!” I hang up and push myself onto my bed with my arm draping over my face. “Ugh!” I growl into the silence of my room.

My phone begins to ring, and I turn my head and silence it.

I should probably not talk to people when I’m drunk, especially Quinn. He has a way of getting me to divulge everything that is on my mind.
