“Don’t get the wrong idea because I’m opening the door for you,” he said, and my cheeks warmed up despite the cool weather.

“I wouldn’t dare.” I laughed as I entered the car and thanked him for the gentle gesture. “So, where are we going?” I asked as I buckled up.

“Somewhere pretty far, where you’re not known,” he said, and I smiled, nodding as I leaned back against the seat.

“Great,” I whispered, appreciating how he thought everything out. Of course, if people were to see us having dinner together, it would be a whole big thing, and even though I knew this was risky, I couldn’t help but love the feeling of it all.

Something must have seriously been wrong with me. How could I be this excited for dinner which wasn’t even a date? I turned slightly to look at Alexander. He kept his eyes focused on the road with one hand steering while the other hand covered the whole gear stick. There was just something so attractive about a man driving; I don't know what it was but I totally loved this look.

Alexander must have really loved dark clothes. I had never seen him wearing any light clothes besides his sport uniform. He had taken off his jacket and draped it over my thighs, revealing his black shirt that clung onto his skin for dear life.

Yeah, that’s totally hot.

“Are you going to say something or continue to stare at me like that?”

“Like what?” I asked softly, and he turned to face me as the light turned red. His lips lifted up in a smirk, and he scoffed, shaking his head as he looked forward. “Like what?” I hardened my voice, curious.

“Nothing, Miss Collins,” he teased, and I squinted my eyes, leaning forward to watch him.

“Hmm,” I hummed once I saw him smile. “It better be nothing,” I whispered as I leaned back on my seat. “Is it still further away?”

“No, we’ve arrived,” he said as he turned into private parking; I raised my eyebrows as I saw the red LED lights that were lined along the walls in the parking garage.

“Is it a fancy restaurant?” I asked as I unbuckled my belt, touching the door.

“Don’t open that door,” Alexander commanded, and I immediately moved my hands from the door onto my lap. Sometimes, people's cars had issues that you as an external person would not understand, and that was okay, but one would think Alexander would afford a nice car. “I’ll open the door for you; it’s my job,” he said as he opened my door for me. Passing him his jacket, I looked at him, shocked.

I hadn’t come to this date with any expectations, but Alexander always proved to me that maybe, just maybe, I did deserve the softer things in life.

“Thank you?” I wasn’t sure what to say. I knew he had opened the door for me earlier on, but I wasn’t banking on it happening twice in one night.

“Don’t mention it.” He pressed his lips on my forehead and slipped his arm around my waist, leading me into the restaurant. His hand was so warm, and why were his fingers spread so far apart? His pinky was literally resting on my hip. It’s so warm!

My heart wouldn’t stop beating so violently! This is normal. What he was doing wasn’t anything special, but something normal, and I shouldn’t have been so affected by it like I was. Why does he smell so good?

“Are you okay?” he asked as he looked at me, that was when I realized I had leaned against him. What the fuck was wrong with me?

“Yes,” I quickly separated myself from him and smoothed down my hair and dress simultaneously. Shit, this was so embarrassing!

“You sure?” The concern in his voice was enough to have me acting the fool, but I needed to remain composed and not get the wrong idea from this date.

It was not even a date, and yet I was calling it one. Just a casual outing, where we were both dressed in our best outfits and covered probably in our most expensive fragrances because we wanted the other to notice.

I had even put on extra makeup than I usually did when I went to work, so of course this was a date to me!

“Yes.” I cleared my throat as I sat down on the chair he had pulled out for me. You say I shouldn’t be getting the wrong idea, and yet here you are giving me treatment that I’ve only ever seen on TV and read about. How am I not supposed to get the wrong idea about all this?

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

I looked around the warmly-lit restaurant, and a few people were dispersed everywhere. The restaurant smelled so sweet, and I couldn’t help but smile. Everything that smelled sweet made me happy.

“I hope you’re not overthinking all of this,” he said as he leaned down next to my ear, surprising me. I thought he was already gone. “I can’t only have an intimate relationship with you,” he whispered, and I shivered as his fingers lightly trailed down my back. “I have to appreciate you as well.” He kissed the shell of my ear as he squeezed my waist. “Okay?”

“Okay.” I nodded, unable to form a sentence. Whenever I was with Alexander, I couldn’t think clearly or even function as a normal human being. He always had me fumbling and had butterflies swarming around in my belly.

And I absolutely loved the feeling! It almost felt as if I finally had something to look forward to every day.

Once our food arrived, we engaged in light conversation over our meal, and surprisingly, Alexander was a pretty decent, funny person to be around. Who would’ve thought he would have me laughing the whole evening during the course of our dinner, since he was such a quiet and brooding person?
