“But she doesn’t know. You should have seen how fucking pissed she was. She swore at me.”

Lock flinched back mockingly. “She swore? That’s bad.”

“It is bad,” I argued. “For a woman so cool and collected, she was ready to yank my balls off.”

The door opened and Edu walked in, grinning like an idiot at me. “So, not in the lady’s bedchamber anymore.”

“Somebody’s been spending too much time with Fox,” I muttered.

“I can’t believe she kicked you out.”

“There has to be something we can tell her. She needs to understand the threat is real. What do we have on this guy that showed up at the gala?”

Lock pulled out his phone and showed it to me. “Rae found this.”

I read through the documents, my eyebrows shooting up in surprise. “This is the fashion writer?”

“Yep.”

“His articles are largely focused on Wren. What does his editor say?”

“That he’s allowed to write his articles about anyone he wants,” Lock answered. “Basically, he takes no responsibility for anything.”

“But this guy shows up everywhere,” I argued. “Look at this.” I turned the phone and showed Lock the image taken just outside the house. “This was just yesterday.”

“I’ve already had Rae file the paperwork for a restraining order. But even that isn’t enough to end this. We all know that.”

“We need to bring him in and find out what his obsession is with her.”

“We can’t snatch him off the streets.”

“Fox could,” I argued. “Let him do his thing.”

I could tell Lock wasn’t that interested in allowing Fox to do anything, but I wasn’t backing down. We needed information, and the only way to get that was from the source.

“If I allow this,” Lock said, shooting me a pointed look, “There can be no torture. This man hasn’t actually done anything other than take pictures.”

“I promise,” I said, not sure I could stand by that. Fox sometimes got carried away and it wasn’t easy to stop him when he was on a roll.

“I’ll go with,” Edu piped up.

“I don’t need you to babysit me,” I snapped.

“Who said anything about babysitting you? Maybe I was concerned about Fox. You know, this is his first assignment since his whole mental breakdown. Maybe that’s what has me so concerned.”

I hadn’t considered that. I just jumped to the conclusion that he was bored and wanted to have some fun. “Well…I guess that makes sense.”

“See? I’m not a total asshole. I’m here for you, man. I know what this woman means to you, even if you don’t want to admit it. We have to stick together.”

My lips quirked up in a grin. “That means a lot to me.”

Lock rolled his eyes. “He’s fucking with you. The only thing he cares about is getting out of here.”

My eyes snapped to Edu’s. “Is he right?”

“Oh, come on. Like you wouldn’t be rushing to get out of here if the situation were reversed.”

“So, all that crap about sticking together?—”
