“What?” I grinned. “I can’t hear you.”

He rolled his eyes, letting out a deep sigh through his nose.

“Do you have a lock on his position?”

I opened the app on my phone and clicked on Edu’s location. “Yep, got him.”

My phone suddenly switched from the app to an incoming call. Paling, I shoved the phone at Lock. “It’s Cash.”

“Nope, not getting it. I’m always the responsible one. It’s your turn to take the hit.”

I glanced in the back seat. “We could make Scottie answer it.”

“Are you fucking kidding me? The guy has some kind of space dementia. I’m not putting him on the phone with Cash.”

When I didn’t answer, the phone stopped ringing. I sighed in relief, but it was short-lived as my phone rang a second time. I grudgingly answered the call, pretending nothing was wrong. “Hey, Cash. Sorry about that. We were just unloading the plane.”

“You landed safely?”

I looked at Lock and shrugged. “Uh, yeah. Everything’s good. We’re just about to head to the client’s house.”

“Good. I want a status report as soon as you meet with the father. No mistakes on this one.”

I winced, but didn’t say a word about the incident. “No problem. We’ll check in later.”

“Oh, and Brock?—”

“Yeah, boss?” I said cheerily.

“Do you want to tell me why Edu’s tracker shows that he somehow left the plane mid-flight?”

My throat dried up as I looked to Lock for help. He was shaking his head, unable to come up with a reasonable excuse either. “Uh…yeah, boss. It’s…because Edu got really pissed.”

“About what?”

“Uh…the tracker. He said he was tired of feeling like a dog. Yep, he dug it out of his arm and opened the door to the plane. Then, just tossed it out.”

“Mid-flight.”

“Yep, mid-flight. Oh, but I was against it. Yeah, I said to him…I said, Edu, that’s so reckless. You could be injured.”

Lock slapped me.

“Yeah, and then Lock tackled him and restrained him. I think he had a little case of um…mind turbulence.”

What? Lock mouthed at me.

I shrugged, wincing at the anger on his face. I don’t know! I panicked!

“Mind turbulence,” Cash repeated. “Never heard of it.”

“Oh, yeah. It’s uh…really bad stuff. Like…the cabin pressure gets to you and you sort of lose your mind.”

I heard Cash blow out a breath. “But he’s doing better now? You got him oxygen?”

“Yeah, oh, yeah. He’s seen a medic and they said with a little oxygen, he’ll be fine.”

“Good. That’s good. Hey, Brock. One last thing.”
