“What are you talking about?”

“I want proof that you’ve kept my secret.”

“Who am I going to tell? Fox? I have enough on my hands without telling him your darkest secrets. Which aren’t that dark, by the way.”

“Hey, it’s not for you to judge my secrets,” he snapped.

I took a deep breath, trying not to snap at him. I needed his help if I was going to figure out who was behind this. “Dash, focus.”

“Oh, I am focused. I’m about the only one around here who is.”

“Then tell me what the fuck I need to know.”

He sighed heavily like this was hard on him. “You’re right about the guy slipping onto the property that night. There’s no way he could have done it on his own.”

“I already know that,” I bit out.

“Do you want to hear this or not?”

I almost told him no, but I needed this intel. “Just tell me.”

“I combed through the rest of the security and found nothing. No one else was trying to break onto the property that night.”

“What are you talking about? The alarms went off.”

“Right, about the time our imposter was at the house.”

“He was by the house? Not breaking in, but almost there,” I clarified.

“Exactly. Sounds a little suspicious, right?”

“He would have to trip the alarm coming onto the property. The next alarms don’t go off until the house is breached.”

“Precisely. I thought it was a little strange, myself.”

“It’s just strange,” I corrected. “You already thought it was strange. You don’t need to add myself.”

“Are you freaking kidding me? I’m giving you valuable intel and you’re correcting my English?”

“Like no one else has done it? Where do you think I got it from?”

“Anyway,” he bit out. “It didn’t sit right with me that the alarm triggered right outside the house.”

“Did you check the code?”

He scoffed at me. “Did I check the code? Do you think I’m an idiot? Of course, I checked the code. Stop interrupting me.”

“Sorry.”

“You’d better be. Now, as I was saying, I went through the code and there was one line that shouldn’t have been there. Someone hacked the system.”

“I bet Rae is pissed about that.”

“I haven’t told her yet. I was waiting for just the right moment.”

“And that would be…”

“When I have all the intel and can shove it in her face that someone hacked her code.”
