Rowan blinked in surprise. He was young, and unlike most of the men Pierce hired, he was straight out of school. So he was close enough to Morgan's age for me to be worrying. She was my sister. I was supposed to worry about her, wasn't I?

She just rolled her eyes. "Right, and I will stay put."

When the team broke apart, Lakewood was right on my heels. "So, partner, how are we going to do this? Bad cop, good cop? I was really thinking, bad cop, bad cop personally, because you already got a bite out of him. At the time he was being such an asshole to her, Gwen wouldn't let me do anything. So I'm hoping for retribution this time."

I was liking Lakewood a lot better now. "Well, let's hope we actually get information from him. And then, if you take off his head, I won't care. Hell, I'll provide you an alibi."

"With all due respect, Price, you should be the alibi."

As it turned out, Jacobson wasn’t hard to find. We didn't call ahead, but he wasn't in the office or at home. And then Lakewood had an idea. He'd pulled up the latest hookup app and then made a quick fake profile using photos he grabbed from the internet. With a few well-placed keywords, I got favorite places and favorite restaurants to match Bronson Jacobson's. Places that he had either taken Gwen to or frequented. He suddenly showed up in a pool of men. Lakewood set himself as available. And suddenly, there was a match and a location for a meet-up all set up. At a hotel, obviously.

"Do people really use this thing?" I asked, inquiring about the dating app.

He shrugged. "Seems like a sad way to find a mate, but for people just looking to hookup, it's the new thing."

I frowned. "God, it's so easy to meet women. Why would anyone do this?"

"Well, not everyone is Atticus Price,” Lakewood said. “Some guys have to work harder. Women threw themselves at you all the time, hoping for a chance to be Mrs. Atticus Price. You had your pick of women who would do anything you wanted just to prove to you that they were wife material."

"That's ridiculous."

"Yes, it is. I mean, look, I'm not complaining. I know I get the benefits of the Lakewood name."

"Yeah, about that, did you figure out what you're going to do about your grandfather's will?"

He shook his head. "I'm not going to think about that right now. I'm ignoring it until I don't have to."

I shrugged. "Fair."

"Let's go on our date."

It turned out, Bronson was temporarily staying at the Waldorf. As I already had some suites booked there for the incoming executives, I breezed by check-in security with no issues. We reached Jacobson's room and knocked on the door. I shook my head when he opened it so easily.

"Christ, Jacobson, you didn't even check the peephole? Just waiting for some random hookup girl to walk in. That, my friend, apparently is how you get—" I turned to Lakewood. "What did Morgan say?"

"Rowed. That's what the kids are saying."

I grinned at Jacobson. "Yeah, that’s how you get rowed."

Jacobson tried to shut the door in our faces, but between myself and Lakewood, he couldn't keep us out.

"What the fuck do you two want?"

"Just to have a conversation.”

He glared at me. “I've already told you I don’t want to see you."

I waived my hand. "Oh, we're going to have a perfectly lovely conversation. Besides, if anything happens to you, everyone will see that you used the hookup app. You really can't be too careful these days."

"What do you want, Price? You said to stay away from Gwen, and I have."

Lakewood made himself comfortable on the edge of the bed. That made Jacobson distinctly uncomfortable. "What the fuck do you want?"

"Peter Reeser. What do you know about him?" I asked.

"Who?"

"Peter Reeser," Lakewood said with an air of 'I'm really not here to fuck with you.' I might not like him, but when it came to Gwen, he did not play around.
