He smiled more sheepishly than I’d ever seen him. “Don’t tell Roxie, okay?”

Awareness prickled through me, and I pictured him with my friend. Eating all her pastries and setting up shop in her café every second he was off the ice. Roxie coming to games with me as we watched our men—Roman caught me grinning and tilted his head. “Please, Avery?”

I shoved him and laughed. “You want to impress her, huh?”

He scowled and pointed down the hall. “Your dressing room is that way. Go.”

Bossy. Roxie would love that. I rolled my eyes and shared a kiss with Bash and Mac.

“See you soon,” I whispered, holding onto their hands as long as I could.

We would only be apart for as long as it took us to get ready. Roman wasn’t being held hostage. There was no catastrophe waiting for us at the arena.

They had planned our wedding.

While we were in Florida wondering what our wedding would be like, our friends—no, our new family—had stepped up and pulled everything together.

Harriet was still on our payroll, and I was as happy for her as I was for us that we’d see this thing through to the end.

The reader board circling the Evergreens Arena gave away the surprise when we pulled in: A Savage Wedding.

Mac had seen it first, gasping so loud I almost gave him the Heimlich. My heart had nearly thumped out of my chest when I read the words. When Bash saw it, I thought he was going to crash the car, but he navigated us safely to a parking spot where we had a quick huddle.

They were springing a huge decision on us and we needed to all be on the same page before we walked through those doors. I knew in my soul it was the right decision. But if there was any hesitation from either of my guys, I would wait until they were ready.

I didn’t need to worry, though. I had barely asked how they felt before Bash teared up and yanked us into his arms. Mac was too shocked to speak at first, the excitement clear on his face as he tried to answer me. Finally, he gave up and nodded emphatically.

It was as exhilarating as the day we proposed. We had promised each other forever and now we were paying up.

It finally felt right.

Mac and Bash each went one direction while I jogged over to Roxie.

“How in the hell did you pull this off?”

“I have my ways.” She shrugged and watched Roman’s retreating figure as he took Mac toward the locker room.

“Roman? Roxie! He’s—” I stumbled, not quite sure what objections I had to the two of them.

“Emily! No. He just helped me get you guys here. And decorate and stuff.”

“You guys decorated?”

Her eyes flickered, a smile creeping across her face. “Confession…Harriet and I didn’t call anyone to cancel.” Her grin grew. “We stole big daddy and then we conspired and compiled everything the three of you have said about your wedding and pulled it together, hoping that holding it here would be okay? The entire team came together and helped us.”

“The arena’s perfect,” I whispered as we walked past the spot I first saw Mac. This place was filled with memories of our relationship. We hadn’t even considered it as an option. “You’re the best.”

She grinned wickedly and opened the door to the away locker room. “Just you wait.”

Chapter Thirty-One

Emily

“Mom?” I breathed.

“Emily,” she whispered, spreading her arms out and pulling me against her.

I stiffened before relaxing into her embrace. It was the first time we had hugged in a long time.
