“Really?”

“What happened?” he asked. “Why did you close the store?”

“It started as a little hobby in my apartment, and then when orders started increasing, I decided to open up a little shop. But I was in there working all the time, and when I projected my life twenty years in advance, all I could see was me still baking in that store, and it truly wasn't what I wanted. I loved baking, but it was much more fun when I was just doing it for myself and for loved ones.”

“I’m learning a lot about you, and I’m loving it,” he said, and I smiled.

“I say all this to say that I’m going to bake you something later tonight. I'm thinking a cheesecake. Do you like cheesecake?”

“I love cheesecake,” he repeated. “And I can’t wait. In fact, I'll join you and see how you work.”

I couldn't believe his words, and he seemed amused at my shock.

“What?” he shrugged. “You see how I work every day, so I guess it’s time to see how you work, at least with regards to baking.”

I leaned forward then to kiss him, and then continued in detail.

“I have to get some supplies in town. So, do you want to come along?” I asked.

“When I asked you about how you would like to spend this part of the vacation back in New York, you said solely eating. You didn’t want to move. You just wanted to sleep for the entire two days?”

“Really?” he asked, and I nodded.

“Well, I don’t mind staying in bed,” he said. “And I trust you to make what I want even more desirable because I get to spend the time with you.”

I couldn't help but blush, but at the same time, I felt so thrilled because all of this felt too good.

“Live in the moment,” I told myself and looked at him. “So you wouldn’t mind coming with me to town before the sun sets?” I asked, and he nodded.

“I’ll be happy to. We’ve both napped, and we’re not going on the yacht tonight, are we?”

“No, tomorrow morning,” I replied, and he nodded.

“Alright then, finish up your very late lunch, and we’ll be on our way.”

Chapter Thirty-Seven

Hunter

“Where are we going?” I asked as I glanced down at the sandals on my feet. I was wearing a shirt at least, but for some reason, it felt wrong. I looked at myself in the mirror, but all that changed when she came into view. She had on the most gorgeous flowing white dress all the way to her feet and a pair of flip flops.

I had only ever seen her looking dreary in her oversized work clothes or looking breathtaking in a formal dress, but not... she looked like an angel. Absolutely gorgeous, free.

I couldn't stop staring at her.

“What?” she asked, suddenly self-conscious as she hurried over to the floor-length mirror before me. She all but pushed me out of the way and then she stared at herself. I could see the appreciation in her eyes, and I couldn't help but shake my head. I did, however, want to cancel the outing and go back to be with her.

“Should we order in?” I asked. “They should have cheesecake somewhere there, right?”

She turned to me with a sullen expression, and I immediately regretted putting it out there.

“I’m just saying that because right now I want to be naked with you. I want to be here, lounging until we're incredibly well-rested and intentionally having mind blowing sex till we both pass out.”

Her cheeks instantly flushed red, and my heart nearly couldn’t take the gorgeous color across her cheeks.

“No,” she refused. “I want to make cheesecake. We have all night to test that theory, and if we have cheesecake, we might just be able to take a break in the middle and then keep going.”

I laughed at this because we both knew it was impossible, but right now, between us, there was no use whatsoever for reality.
