“Easton.” Finch was beside me, arms holding me tight.

“Tru!”

I pulled the blankets off and grabbed a pair of sleep pants.

“What’s wrong with her?”

I had to get to Tru and didn’t have time to answer questions. I pulled my bedroom door open and raced down the hallway, and he followed suit.

“What’s going on?” I heard Daisy’s voice, but nothing was stopping me. “I heard something, but it was as if I was stuck underwater. As soon as Easton yelled, I snapped out of it.”

I didn’t understand what Daisy was talking about and couldn’t care. Thunder rumbled outside joined by the lightning. I grabbed the handle, took a breath, and pushed it open.

“Easton! What’s going on?” Finch came up behind me.

Her bed was empty, her window open with rain pouring in.

“They took her.”

Finch surprisingly pushed me out of the way into the room.

“No!” He spun and faced me. “You knew?”

“My dream.” It was all I had to say.

“Where is she, Easton? I will get her back.”

It was as if a hand were reaching through my chest, gripping my heart, and squeezing. I couldn’t breathe.

“Easton, where is she?” Finch was shouting, an anger I’d never heard ripping through him.

“Your mom said the mountains.”

“My mom?”

“She came to me in my dream.”

“Amaris Mountains,” Daisy said. “Shit.” She rubbed over her eyes. “Amaris must have put twilight magic over me, and that’s why I didn’t hear anything.”

“Daisy, did the court rule?”

“No.”

He nodded and took my face in his hands. “I am going to find her, East. I vow this to you. No matter what, I will find her.”

“The mountains, Finch.”

It was the place people never returned from. That bitch fae had my daughter.

“I know.”

“I’m going with you.” I spun and raced to my room.

“Easton, it’s not safe for you.” Finch followed. He dressed as fast as I did.

“She’s my daughter. You’re not stopping me.”

“I can, you know…stop you.”
