“You’re amazing.” I pressed a kiss to his lips, which he hungrily took.

“Mmm, you are amazing.”

We made out for a little bit until the mess between us became uncomfortable. After cleaning us up, I covered our bodies, wrapped Finch in my arms and fell into a deep sleep.

“Easton! You have to find her.”

I opened my eyes, and there was mist all around. The scent of dank earth filled my nose.

“Who’s there?”

“She’s there.” The voice was female, familiar.

“Who’s where?” I spun in a circle but couldn’t see anything.

“She needs you.”

“Who?” I shouted.

A shadow appeared in the mist. I couldn’t see who it was, but it was getting closer.

“What’s going on?”

“A dream.” That was a new voice, pleasant.

“Who are you?”

The mist parted as if it were respecting the shadow’s space. She was tall, not as tall as me. Her hair was long, the color of sage. She was dressed in a gown of flowers, a crown of butterflies, and her eyes as silver as…

“You’re Finch’s mother.”

She smiled. “And you’re Finch’s heart.”

“Where am I?”

“You’re in a dream…your dream.”

“Why?”

Her smile fell, and the sound of distant thunder made me jump.

“Your dreams aren’t only about you as you feared. In this instance, they are for your daughter, Easton.”

“Tru.”

“She’s in danger.”

“What?” I tried to find a way out, but I couldn’t.

“She needs to be found, and fast. I can’t help you in this world; I was denied access to your realm, but I will not give up trying to help you, I fear I may not make it in time.”

“Where is she?”

The thunder became louder, flashes of light exploded above us.

“To the mountains, Easton…to the mountains.”

I shot up, gasping as I crashed into reality.
