He held the door open, and I blushed as he helped me up since his truck was a bit high from the ground.

“Everything go well with Daisy?” I asked once we were driving down my street.

“Yes, thank you for suggesting her. Milo remembered her and was happy when she informed him that she was a video-game nerd.”

I chuckled. I wasn’t sure how true that was since Daisy spent most of her life in the fae realm, but that was her problem.

“I’m so happy she was right there at the same time you called. Like it was kismet.”

I glanced over at him, and the relaxed expression on his handsome face sent delicious shivers down my spine.

“I’ve never dated as a single parent, and Paula has always been there to help. I never thought there’d be a time she wouldn’t be able to.”

“I would have been fine hanging out at your house if there was no one to watch them. Don’t think I find them a burden at all. You have amazing kids.”

He glanced over at me, eyes sparkling. “I know people say things like that all the time and I don’t honestly know if it’s true, but when you say it, I know you really feel that way.”

“I think their dad is pretty amazing too.”

He reached over and tenderly squeezed my knee.

“You brought magic into our lives, Finch. You’re the amazing one.”

He pulled up to our destination before I could respond.

“Wow, Easton, I’ve always wanted to come here.”

“Me too. It’ll be an adventure for both of us—hopefully a good one.”

I wanted to say that any adventure with him would be fun, but I worried it was too cheesy…too much.

“I can’t wait.”

The Enchanted Lily was gorgeous on the outside and even more so on the inside. It reminded me of home in a way. The foyer was like walking into a garden. Low lighting, flowers, and the music was like a humming breeze.

“Enchanting indeed.” Easton chuckled.

“Very.”

We were seated at a table in an alcove that overlooked Lorelie River. The sun was just beginning to set, and I couldn’t have picked a better moment to be in than I was right now.

“All of this looks so good,” I said as I read the menu. Whatever you were craving, there was a dish for it.

“I’m thinking steak, baked potato, and the roasted brussels sprouts.” He nodded and had an expression that I found endearing.

“Sounds yummy. I think I’m going to go with the salmon, scalloped potatoes, and garden salad.”

We ordered our food and drinks and soon enough, it was just the two of us and time.

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Easton

Everything about this evening was flawless, but mostly Finch was. As he spoke about his job and told stories about some of his favorite patients, I couldn’t tear my eyes away. His skin was unmarred. Not a scratch, scar, mole, nothing.

His hair reminded me of blue fluff, and I desperately wanted to press my face in and inhale…Oh Lord, if he could read my thoughts.

The jewels he had strung in glittered when he turned his head, and I was utterly enthralled.
