Emma buried her face in her palms. Sheikh Besada was probably thinking she was strange. She had been determined not to embarrass herself in front of him but then she fell over on her first day. She said to herself that she was going to do better on her second day, and then she called him by mistake. She really didn’t want him to think that he had made a mistake in hiring her. Why couldn’t it have been Dania or someone else from a different department that she had called?

Sheikh Besada’s voice sounded nice over the phone. It was deep but not too deep. It was manly; Emma wouldn’t mind listening to it all day. Kiro Besada; even his name sounded nice. She wondered what kind of a man he was. She had researched him and the company before she had attended the interview. She had learned that he was the crown prince of El Sourial, but there was no information on the internet that elaborated on his personality.

Moments later there was a call from a client, and this time it was for Sheikh Besada. Emma felt a little awkward having to call him again. She took a breath and called his line.

“Hello,” he answered. Emma closed her eyes tightly before she spoke.

“Hello, it’s Emma from reception,” she said.

“Emma from reception, what can I do for you? It’s Sheikh Besada by the way.”

The way he said his name was slightly cheeky. It was obvious that it was a reference to her earlier mistake. “I’m reallysorry about the call earlier. I have Mr. Evans on the phone. He says he has some business to discuss with you regarding a recent project,” said Emma.

Kiro grunted before he replied. “You may transfer his call to me,” he said.

“Yes sir.” Emma transferred the call. She sighed as she threw herself back into her chair.

The rest of the shift progressed smoothly. Emma typed the reports that Dania had given her. There weren’t many calls that came through. She hadn’t been too busy. She cleared her desk and made sure it was neat and tidy when it was time to go home. Emma saw Kiro heading out through the automatic doors toward the elevator. Emma picked up her bag and also headed for the exit.

“You work late,” Emma said to Kiro as she trailed behind him.

“I have a lot of work to do,” he replied without turning his head. He just kept on walking. Emma wondered what he had to do. He seemed to be quite hands-on with the company. Instead of having someone run their Dallas branch, Kiro came from El Sourial to work there. She wondered why he didn’t stay in El Sourial and live the luxurious life of a prince. Why would he relocate to another country and work there?

“I see,” Emma replied. Kiro headed to his car in the parking lot. Emma was also headed that way. Unlike her, he had a driver waiting for him.

“I will see you tomorrow,” Emma called out to Kiro. He just dismissed her with his hand as he got into the car.
