Chapter 24

Kiro

It had been almost two weeks since Emma had returned to Dallas. Although they had been speaking daily over the phone, he missed her and wanted to see her. He missed her bright smile and animated facial expressions. She always put him in a good mood. She always had a fresh perspective on things and it was refreshing.

While Kiro had been in El Sourial, his father’s men had been able to kidnap the crown prince of Al Habuara. The king’s men were holding himhostage as part of the king’s plan for revenge. King Besada had decided that the king of Al Habuara needed to get a taste of his own medicine.

“Good afternoon,” Kiro greeted his father as he walked into the cabinet room. The king was sitting at the table comfortably.

“Have a seat, son,” his father replied. Kiro nodded. He joined his father at the table.

“What is going on?”

“The king of Al Habuara is on his way.”

Kiro raised his eyebrows. “Really?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“Did you invite him over? How did he agree to come over?”

“I have his son. Of course he will come over for his son unless he wants to start a war.”

Before Kiro could reply, there was a knock on the door. The king’s butler walked into the room and announced that King Abas of Al Habuara had arrived.

“Escort him in,” said King Besada. Kiro wondered what his father was up to. He was an unpredictable man. He had kidnapped the crown prince of Al Habuara and then told his father that he had his son. Kiro’s father was quite ballsy.

The king of Al Habuara walked into the room. He was a short man with a pot belly. He walked into the room with his grey eyebrows crossed.

“You have my son?” he said. “Where is he?”

“Have a seat first,” said King Besada.

“I want to see my son first!” he demanded.

“You will see him in good time. First take a seat, if you don’t want anything to happen to him.” King Besada was not intimidated by King Abas. He just sat there calmly. King Abas hissed before he sat down.

“Do you realize that this is a stupid move? Are you trying to start a war?”

“You tried to kidnap my son first. You should have realized that it was a stupid move. You can’t do business like this.”

King Abas nodded. “I understand that I was wrong. If you give me my son back, I will never do anything like that again,” he said.

“Of course you will not because if you send a boomerang, it will come back to you.” King Besada nodded at one of his men. The man immediately approached the table with paperwork and gave it to King Abas.

“What is this?” King Abas asked.

“It’s a peace treaty. You will sign it and promise not to cause any more problems in the future.”

King Abas took the paperwork and signed it. He looked so angry and defeated. He slammed the pen down. “I’ve signed it. Now hand over my son,” he said.

“We have already discussed a ransom price. You have to wire the money into the account I provided first,” said King Besada. Kiro sat in his chair watching his father dominating King Abas.

King Abas called one of his men and told him to call the palace treasurer. King Abas grabbed the phone when the call had connected. “Wire it over,” he spat out.

King Besada’s secretary was on standby with a laptop. “The money has been transferred,” he said moments later.

“All of it?” King Besada asked.
