“I’m not worried about you,” she said. Kiro laughed in response.

Kiro had always hated the long flights to El Sourial. However, this time was different. He was with Emma. She was very talkative but she kept him entertained. Her energy was contagious. He felt livelier whenever she was around.

They arrived in El Sourial at 7 a.m. Emma had finally fallen asleep by the end of the flight. Kiro looked at her for a moment. She was so cute when she slept. He stroked her face with the back of his hand.

“Emma,” he said softly. He leaned closer to her and kissed her lips. “Wake up.”

“Hmm.” Emma slowly opened her eyes.

“We have arrived.”

“Have we?” She sat up and looked out of the window. Kiro took Emma’s arm and helped her up to her feet. They headed out of the jet. There were three cars waiting for them. They got into the one in the middle. The car in front of them and the one behind had bodyguards. Since he was the crown prince of El Sourial, he had to have such heavy security. He didn’t travel with that amount of security in America because he felt like it attracted more attention to him. When he was in El Sourial, he had no choice because his parents forced it on him.

“Wow, it’s only 7 a.m. here but it’s already quite warm,” said Emma.

“It gets quite hot sometimes,” Kiro replied. She looked out of the window.

“There are palm trees in the middle of the highway. This place is incredible.”

They arrived at the palace moments later. They drove through the large wrought-iron gates. They parked at the palace garage. The security guards at the garage opened the doors for Emma and Kiro.

They headed towards the massive palace. It was a ten-minute walk. The guards bowed to Kiro before they opened the door for them. The maids immediately bowed to Kiro as he walked into the palace. Emma gaped at the palace with grey gaze widened. Kiro called one of the maids and asked her to take Emma to one of the guest rooms in his wing and help her get settled. He parted ways with Emma and headed to the king’s quarters.

“The crown prince has arrived,” the king’s butler announced as Kiro walked into his office. His father was sitting at his desk. He looked up as Kiro walked in. Kiro approached the desk and then bowed to his father.

“Good morning, Father,” Kiro greeted the king.

“Sit down,” the king demanded. Kiro did as told. “Why did you not inform me about the attempt on your life?” his father asked. Kiro raised his eyebrows. So that was why his father had suddenly summoned him.

“They were not trying to kill me,” he replied.

“They would have ended your life eventually. You should have told me.”

“How did you find out?”

“I am the king of El Sourial and your father. Did you think that I would not find out about something like that?”

“You heard from the police,” said Kiro. Of course his father knew someone in the Dallas police department. His father was a powerful king and had a lot of connections.

“I know the chief of the Dallas police department very well,” he replied. Kiro nodded.

“I didn’t want to worry you or mother.”

The king sighed before he replied, “I haven’t informed her yet.”

“I appreciate that. I don’t want her to be worried. I will take care of it,” he said. His father shook his head.

“I have to step in,” said the king.

“You have other matters to attend to.”

“If someone is threatening my only son’s life, it becomes my priority to find out who is behind such a reckless attempt.”

Kiro nodded. “I understand,” he replied.

“This is why your mother suggested that you have more bodyguards with you,” said the king.

“I guess she was right.”
