“Ah.” Emma looked at herself. She had forgotten that she was still wearing Kiro’s clothes. “I feel too lazy to change. I’ll bring your clothes tomorrow,” she added. Kiro smiled and nodded.

He asked one of his maids to fetch his driver and tell him to get the car ready. When it was time to go, Kiro escorted Emma to the car. He opened the door for her.

“Thank you,” Emma said as she got into the car. Kiro nodded and then shut the door.

The driver drove off. Emma sat in the backseat thinking about her day with Kiro. She had gone to him thinking that they were just going to share a meal. Instead they had spent hours together and shared stories about their lives. Emma still hadn’t gotten the answer to her question. Kiro still hadn’t told her why he had bid on her.

Emma arrived home half an hour later. She thanked the driver as she hopped out of the car and then headed into her house.

“Madison, what are you doing here?” she said as she walked into the living room. Mia and Cynthia both crossed their eyebrows at Emma.

“Those weren’t the clothes you were wearing when you left,” Mia pointed out.

“I came to see you of course,” said Madison. “I got here a few minutes ago.”

“Are those the sheikh’s clothes?” their mother asked with a suspicious look. Emma nodded.

“What?” Mia and Cynthia spat out in unison.

“Which sheikh?” Madison asked as she looked at Emma from head to toe.

“We were walking outside when it started raining. So he let me borrow his clothes,” Emma explained.

“That better be all,” said her mother.

“It is, I swear,” said Emma.

“This is Emma we are talking about. She is a goody two-shoes. I bet there wasn’t even a kiss,” said Cynthia. Emma raised her eyebrows.

“From the things you say, I forget that you are fourteen years old.” Emma shook her head. “I’m going up to my room; Madison, come with me.”

Madison rose to her feet and followed Emma up to her room. Madison shut the door and then sat down on Emma’s bed.

“Tell me everything,” she said. Emma sighed as she sat down on the bed. She told Madison how the sheikh had invited her to the charity gala and then bid on her. “So Kiro is the man that you spent your day with today?” said Madison.

“Yes,” Emma replied.

“Those are his clothes?” Madison pointed at the clothes Emma was wearing.

“Yes.”

“You have worked at Besada Oils for two weeks, and in that time you saved his life, he bought you a car, he bid $20,000 to go on a date with you and then he gave you his clothes,” said Madison.

“Yes, pretty much.” Emma shrugged her shoulders.

“So much has happened in such a short time.”

“Tell me about it.”

“Sounds likes fate.”

Emma burst into laughter. “What fate?” she asked.

“You and Kiro are fated to be together.”
