Chapter 15

Emma

Emma followed Kiro upstairs. They walked down a wide hallway decorated with paintings. The maids greeted the sheikh and then just stared at Emma as they walked past them. Emma awkwardly smiled at them. They were probably wondering who she was to the sheikh.

“Come in,” Kiro said to her when they had reached the end of the hall. He opened the white door and then walked into the room. Emma followed him into the massive room.

“Is this your bedroom?” she asked him as she looked around. The room had plush cream carpets that matched the cream and gold curtains. The bed was quite big; Emma just wanted to jump on it. There were glass doors that led to a balcony.

“Yes.” Kiro walked into his closet.

Emma stood in the middle of his bedroom with so many thoughts rushing through her head. It was crazy that she was standing in the middle of Sheikh Kiro Besada’s bedroom. It was nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time. She had been interested in getting to know what kind of a man he was, and she was quickly finding out.

She was surprised that he had opened up to her about his life. He had told her about his mother trying to arrange a marriage for him and about not wanting to get married. He hadn’t met a woman that he thought he could tolerate for the rest of his life. Emma had gotten to talk to him about her upbringing and her town.

“Here.” Kiro walked out of the closet with a towel and some clothes. “These might be a bit loose, but you can wear them until your clothes have dried.”

“Thank you.” Emma took the clothes from Kiro.

“I’ll get changed in the bathroom. Call out when you’re finished.” With that, Kiro disappeared to the bathroom. Emma slipped out of her wet clothes and dried herself with Kiro’s towel. She then changed into his white T-shirt and grey tracksuit. His clothes were comfortable.

Emma went to take a peek at Kiro’s closet. “Oh wow,” Emma whispered as she walked into the closet. His clothes were arranged according to color. Everything had its own section. Shirts, blazers, trousers, shoes, T-shirts and ties were separated. He was quite organized. Emma walked out of his closet and returned to his bedroom.

“What do I do with the wet clothes?” she called out. Kiro walked out of the bathroom dressed in a tracksuit and T-shirt.

“I’ll have the maids wash and dry them,” he replied. Kiro walked to the door and opened it. He called for a maid, and one appeared moments later. She took the wet clothes and disappeared.

Emma and Kiro went downstairs to the living room. They sat on the sofas drinking hot tea as they waited for Emma’s dress to dry and for the rain to stop.

“How is the investigation going?” Emma asked Kiro.

“The detectives haven’t found a suspect yet,” he replied.

“They didn’t find any forensic evidence in the van?”

“No.”

“Oh, that’s not good.” Emma shrugged her shoulders. “Do you have any idea who would try to harm you?”

“I imagine that there are plenty of people that would want to harm me.”

Emma looked at Kiro with sympathy-filled eyes. She couldn’t imagine living life like that; knowing that someone would try to kill you. “It must be hard,” she said to him.

“What?” he asked.

“Being a crown prince and knowing that people will try to kill you.”

“It’s life.” Kiro shrugged his shoulders. He acted as though it was completely normal but it wasn’t normal. It was scary and Emma worried for him.

“Goodness, it’s already past eight,” Emma said. She had been in the living room talking to Kiro and didn’t even realize that the time had gone by so quickly.

“I’ll have my driver take you home,” Kiro said to her.

Emma nodded. “Thank you,” she said.

“Do you want to get changed before you go?” he asked her.
