Chapter 7

Emma

Emma was just in her car about to leave work when she received a call from Madison. “Hello,” Emma answered the phone.

“Hey,” Madison replied. “Where are you?”

“I’m just about to leave work.”

“I got some kettle corn for you.”

“Salted?”

“Of course.”

Emma laughed a little. “Thank you,” she said.

“The competition was actually not that bad,” said Madison.

“I don’t mind not having corn in my hair. Who found the box?”

“Cynthia.”

“Really?”

“Yes, I got it all on video.”

“Nice,” Emma replied. She saw the sheikh and his bodyguard walking into the parking lot. Suddenly, two masked men rushed down the stairs. One of them hit the bodyguard with a steel pipe in the back of his head. Emma put her hand over her mouth and dropped her phone.

Kiro turned around and punched the other man in the jaw. Emma watched the two men punching each other. The other man hit Kiro in the stomach a couple of times with the pipe. Emma quickly picked up her phone and hung up. She dialed 911.

“911, what is your emergency?” the operator answered.

“I am at the Besada Oils Company and there are two men attacking Sheikh Kiro Besada. Can you please send help?” Emma said. A black van pulled up and the door slid open. “Oh my God, oh my God, I think it’s a kidnapping. Please send help and an ambulance,” she cried out.

“Are you somewhere safe, ma’am?”

“Yes. I am in my car. Hurry!”

“Stay where you are, ma’am, help is on the way.”

“Okay, please hurry.” Emma hung up and held the phone tightly to her chest. She watched two more men jump out of the van. Two of them held Kiro while the other man tied Kiro’s hands with a rope and then put a gag over his mouth. They pushed him into the van.

Emma’s car was parked near the exit of the parking garage. She took her car keys and stuck them into the ignition. She put her hands on the steering wheel and stared at the van. The four men got into the van and slid the doors shut. The van immediately drove towards the exit.

Just when the van was almost at the exit, Emma started her engine and drove right in front of the van. The van drove right into the passenger side of her car. Emma hit the brakes. Her head almost went flying into the steering wheel but the seatbelt held her back. One of the men got out of the car and approached Emma. She quickly locked her door.

“What the hell are you doing?” he shouted at her as he approached the driver’s side.

“I’m sorry, I took off too soon,” she lied. She had clearly done it to stop them from taking Kiro away.

“You can’t be that stupid! Move your car,” he demanded.

“Yes sir.” Emma started the engine and then turned it off within a second. She did the same thing again. She looked at the man in the mask. “It won’t start,” she said. He shouted something in Arabic and then tried to open her door but it was locked.

“Bring her out,” the driver shouted. The man that was by Emma’s car started hitting her window until it smashed. Emma screamed as she shielded her face from the glass. The man put his hand through the window and unlocked it. Emma took the keys out of the ignition and threw them as far as she could into the parking lot.

“What the heck are you doing?” the man shouted at her. He looked so angry. Emma thought he was going to hit her but he went to fetch the keys instead. Another man came out of the van and rushed towards Emma’s car. He pulled her out of the car and carried her towards the van. Emma started kicking and screaming. It made it difficult for the man to carry her to the van quickly.
