Raphael and Kiro talked until it was 8 p.m. They both headed out of Kiro’s office and into the elevator. They exited the elevator when the doors opened. Emma was just tidying up her desk. She picked up her bag and put it on her shoulder.

“Finished for the day?” Raphael asked her as they approached the reception desk.

“Yes sir,” Emma replied. “Now that I see the two of you together, I can see the resemblance,” she added with a smile. Kiro raised his eyebrows. Emma started walking with them. It was the second time in one day that she had walked with him.

“She did not believe that I was your cousin,” Raphael said to Kiro.

“In my defense, I have never seen you before and I’m new. Besides, random people could just come in and say the same thing. I had to be sure.”

Raphael burst into laughter. “You make a good point,” he said.

“I do apologize for that, and now that I know you, I will let you in right away next time.”

“Thank you, Emma. How long have you worked here?”

“Three days,” she replied. They headed down the stairs and into the underground parking lot.

“Oh, you’re still very new,” Raphael said to her. Emma smiled and nodded.

“I am off now. I will see you next time.” She turned her attention to Kiro. “Have a good weekend. I will see you next week,” she said to him.

“Bye,” he replied plainly. Emma turned on her heel and headed to her car.

Emma

The next week progressed well for Emma. She didn’t embarrass herself in front of the sheikh nor had she called him by mistake. She quickly got used to her duties. At the end of that week, Dania asked her to work the Saturday.

“Good morning, sheikh,” Emma greeted Kiro as he swiped his access card. The sheikh was dressed in a pair of khaki trousers and a white polo shirt. The outfit fit his muscular physique. His body was in perfect shape. He wasn’t skinny, and he wasn’t too muscular. It was just right. He was tall; possibly six feet two inches. His skin was smooth and had a perfect glow.

“Morning,” he replied. His bodyguard walked behind him.

“I printed some reports for you.” Emma picked up the reports and quickly approached the sheikh. “Dania asked me to print these and give them to you.”

“Thank you.” Kiro took the documents from her.

“I guess you come in on weekends also.” Emma smiled. “Shall I order lunch for you at 12?”

“12 o’clock is fine.”

“I will do that. Have a good day.”

“Thank you.” Kiro headed for the elevator. Emma went to her desk and put on her headset.

For the next two hours, Emma mostly sifted through e-mails and sent them to the correct departments. She replied to some. There weren’t many calls. When it was 12 and Kiro’s food was delivered, she headed up to his office with it. She took a deep breath before she knocked on his door.

“Come in,” Kiro called out.

“I come bearing lunch,” Emma said as she approached his desk. She put his food on his desk. “How is the day going?”

Kiro slowly looked up from his desk. “It’s fine,” he replied. She was shocked and impressed by the fact that Kiro was working on Saturday. She would have assumed that the sheikh would have been relaxing in a multimillion-dollar house.

“It’s quiet downstairs. I guess not many people work over the weekend.”

“Do you mind working weekends?”

“No, I don’t. There is a kettle corn competition today. I was not keen on attending,” she said. Kiro shot her a questioning glare. “It’s more like a game where a blow-up pool is filled with popped kettle corn and a few contestants dive in to find the brown box,” she explained.

“That is odd,” Kiro said.

“I’m from Duncan Valley. There are a lot of events and games that sound alien to people.”

“So why aren’t you keen to participate?”

“Kettle corn is annoying to remove from my hair.” Emma smiled. “I hope you enjoy your lunch. If you need anything, please buzz me on reception and I will come up immediately.” Emma turned on her heel and headed for the door.
