“Now, where the fuck is that figlio di puttana (son of a bitch)?”
I keep mute, staring him dead in the eye while listening to Kat’s heaving sounds.
He has a devilish grin on his face as he nods lightly and points the gun at Kat next.
“I’ll shoot her right now if you don’t answer me.”
“Vaffanculo (Fuck you),” I say through gritted teeth, spitting on his face. He wipes it off with the sleeve of his shirt.
“Uno (One).”
“Diana? What the fucking hell is happening?” Kat screams.
“It’s me you want, Sean. Just fucking take me to him.”
“Due (Two).”
His fingers pull the trigger but don’t release it yet.
Kat is screaming with tears in her eyes.
“Sean, please. Let her fucking go.”
“Tr-” a bullet stops him mid-sentence. It passes through his mouth, making a hole in the back of his head. I cringe, squeezing my eyes shut as blood splashes on my face and… on my lips. I can taste it.
Shit.
I hear Kat screaming. I can hear my screams as I hear a couple of shots fill the room. It lasts for a minute but it feels like a fucking eternity.
“Adriana.”
The voice sounds distant. I can’t get the sounds of the shots from my head. Or the picture of Sean’s mouth hole.
“Adriana, we have to go now.”
I flinch, feeling Alessandro’s fingers gripping my arm.
“Don't touch me,” I warn.
Kat is behind him with her arms wrapped around her. Her eyes quiver, staring at the dead men in our apartment.
“We can’t stay here any longer,” he adds.
I nod in agreement, snapping out of my thoughts.
“Kat,” I whisper, reaching for her arm.
“Leave me the fuck alone. I just want to get the fuck away from here.”
“My car is on the next street,” Alessandro says. He walks out of the house first, tucking the gun at the back of his trousers when we get out.
A black sedan is parked opposite the apartment.
“This way,” he says, checking the street cautiously. He leads us back to the club.
Kat is silent throughout the walk. Her arms still wrapped around herself.
Alessandro pulls his key out of his pocket and stops in front of a black SUV a few feet from the club.
