“Cheating people is not my thing,” she murmured.

Ranveer grinned, coming forward to her.

“Then what’s your thing, Maya Bajaj?” his voice got husky. “Coming in my dreams and lure me there?”

Maya gave him a frustrated look.

“I have made my point already,” she shouted. “I am not interested in this deal. Just find someone else who can do this for you.”

She was about to walk past him when he grabbed her wrist and pulled Maya back to him. She crashed hard on his chest. His eyes turned red in anger.

“And taking denial is not my thing. Don’t forget, this can have an adverse effect on your mother’s life too. Your mother’s next appointment for her therapy is due in a few days. How will you arrange the money? You don’t have to if you accept this proposal. I will take full responsibility to ensure your mother undergoes every treatment to recover.”

Maya recollected that’s the sole reason she agreed to meet him and hear out his proposal. She shrugged his hold. She needed time to think, but the clock was ticking. She had no time seriously. Even if she asked for some time now, she would have to agree to him sooner or later for her mother’s sake. She had no way to go. There was only one way, and it led to him.

“Fine,” she whispered against her will.

Ranveer heard that yet pretended.

“I didn’t hear you, Miss Bajaj. Say it louder.”

Maya gave him a stern look and then nodded.

“I will do this,” she paused. “But on my terms,” she immediately added.

“Beggars can’t be choosers,” he snapped.

Maya fisted her fingers.

“This is a deal, Mr. Malhotra. I am not pleading for help. We both are helping each other so I get a chance to choose,” she intelligently put forward her point, which he unwillingly accepted.

“What are your terms?” he asked.

“You got to stay away from me as much as possible whenever we have no reasons to stick together. And no media linkage. I don’t want to have the tag of your girlfriend before the world.”

Ranveer rolled his eyes.

“Every little nuisance I do is out in the media and this is such a big thing. There are chances it may—”

“No,” she interrupted. “This would never come out officially from your end neither mine. Do you agree on this?”

Ranveer thought for a minute and then nodded.

“Okay, I will ensure only the concerned people know about our relationship. Until I give an official statement, they will keep linking us seeing us together, but that cannot be controlled.”

Maya was fine with that. She would be the last person to tell it openly to anyone. So, she agreed.

“Good.” He took a sip of the drink. “I will frame a contract and get back to you on this by tomorrow.”

Maya was momentarily uncomfortable. A contract? She knew once she signed it, there was no way she could end it before the cause was met.

Laura came inside the living room in a hurry.

“Sir, your brother is here.”

Ranveer was highly shocked because he didn’t expect his half-brother to show up here suddenly. Maya was equally shocked.

“Send him inside after 5 minutes.”
