Her mother’s voice wasn’t normal. She felt like Garima was very anxious and in excitement.

“What is it, Mom? You sound different,” she continued to talk despite her requirement backstage.

“How could you think of hiding such a huge matter from me?”

Maya's breath hitched. Which matter did she hide? As far as she recollected, the only matter she didn't share with her mother recently was that she walked the ramp again.

“Which matter, Mom?”

“Your relationship,” she snapped.

Maya was puzzled.

“Relationship? What relationship?”

“Maya, stop it now. I know I am not very useful for you to discuss all your problems, but that doesn't mean you don't reveal your personal life changes. How could you hide about your affair?”

Maya was totally confused about the grounds on which her mother was asking her that.

“Mom, I am not having any affair,” she confidently declared. She knew that had been her mother's wish for a long time, to see her settled with a man, having someone to share her responsibilities, her pain. But it's not easy to find a life partner like that.

“Stop lying. If you think I will be worried that he is rich and powerful, take that out of your head. Not every man is the same, Maya. Powerful people can be kind.”

“Mom, who got all this in your head?” Maya interrupted.

Garima chuckled.

“That guy himself,” she replied.

“Which guy?” Maya snapped, perplexed by this whole conversation.

“Your boyfriend,” Garima giggled.

That blew Maya's mind. Her jaw dropped.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were dating Ranveer? That article in the newspaper. That mysterious girl coming out of Paradise Tower. It was you, wasn’t it?”

Maya swallowed. Though her mother was right about the news article, she was clearly misinformed about the affair part. Why would Ranveer himself call her mother and feed her with such illogical details? Garima continued sharing the conversation she had with Ranveer a while ago.

“He seems to be a kind man. He told me that you are angry with him because when I had called you this morning, I heard his voice in your room and questioned you. He really wants me to know that you are not breaking my given values, being away from me. I was so touched when he said that. I just want to tell you, Maya, that I believe you.”

Maya gulped. How could that Ranveer Malhotra fake such a disastrous lie? Who did he think he was? And how was this lie going to benefit him?

“Mom, I will call you back, please. Bye.”

She disconnected the call and gripped her mobile tight. She was not going to let him play with her mother’s emotions.

“Lee,” she stopped the coordinator of the show who was just passing by. “Where is Ranveer?”

“Sir is with Mr. Chang, watching the show from the video monitoring room.”

Maya strode into the said room.

“Ranveer,” she tried to maintain a normal tone because she could not let their client know about their catfight.

Ranveer turned around.

“Miss. Bajaj,” he warmly greeted her. “We were just talking about Blitz.”
