Maya was about to say something, but he did not let her speak.

“Your models are doing fab. Chang has liked their work, and he seems to be interested in utilizing the same models for another event of their company.”

“I,” Maya once again tried to speak, but he did not let her.

“I know. You are not the right person to discuss this with, but we are soon going to take this up with the Blitz management. We just wanted you to know first. Right, Chang?”

“Of course. Nice work and coordination, Maya,” Chang came forward to shake hands with her. She faked a smile and upheld some calm posture to maintain the decorum of their tie-ups.

“Thank you, Chang. But I need to have a word with Ranveer. Can I take him for a moment?” she finally intruded.

“Oh sure. Please carry on,” Chang replied, gesturing to Ranveer.

“We can talk later, Miss. Bajaj. The show has to end still,” he grinned, reading the desperation in her eyes to grab him away.

“I am sorry, Mr. Malhotra. But I cannot hold this conversation for the show to end,” she snapped.

Ranveer nodded. He knew why she was so furious and frantic to talk to him. Maybe her mother just told her about his call.

“Fine,” he agreed. “After you.”

Maya walked out of the room, and Ranveer followed her quietly. The moment they reached a secluded place, she turned around.

“This is too much. How dare you call my mother and feed her with all that bullshit?”

Ranveer rolled his eyes. He was glad her mother called her to discuss this at the right time.

“I told her no lie. This is going to happen when you accept my proposal,” he exclaimed.

Maya was tongue-tied.

“But, of course, I couldn’t name that relationship something which your mother might not be able to digest. So, I gave her the word which might sound good for her to listen. Affair! It’s going to be one. But not the regular kind.”

Maya clenched her jaw. How could he think she would keep any relationship with him? She was disinterested, and this would never change.

“Go to hell with your affair. I am least interested in even knowing what type of affair you want to have with me.” She glared into his eyes. “Don’t involve my mother into this. I can tolerate anything but I won’t let anyone hurt her sentiments.”

“That’s exactly why I chose her to convince you to accept my proposal,” he shamelessly declared. “I know how much your mother means to you. You can do anything for her. And that’s good for me. She is your weakness, and your weakness is my strength now,” he uttered with a wicked grin.

Maya crossed her arms across her front.

“You cannot use my weakness ever. I am not going to bow down before you, Ranveer Malhotra.”

“Not even if I tell your mother that you walked the ramp recently?” he asked.

Maya was stunned. Her arms fell back down. How did he know she hid it from her mother?

“Miss Bajaj,” Ranveer sighed. “I am glad you didn’t tell that to your mother because it might have triggered her present medical condition and even worsen it.” He came closer. “Don’t make me do it either. She means nothing to me. I don’t care what happens to her. But she is your world. I am sure you won’t like to see your world crushing before your own eyes, would you?”

Tears pooled in her eyes. Ranveer Malhotra had managed to manipulate the entire situation, and very cleverly he had pricked her sensitive nerve. She couldn't see any hideout to it.

“See me in the hotel tonight if you don’t want me to escalate this matter and make it worse for you. If I don’t see you by 10:00 p.m. tonight, I cannot guarantee your mother’s health condition, and no one but you will be responsible for it.”

Warning her, he headed back to the video monitoring room to join Chang. Maya’s self-control broke down, and she fell on her knees on the ground. What was she supposed to do? How was she going to tackle this? She couldn't keep falling prey to Ranveer Malhotra’s cunning intentions every time. This was not about winning the fight. It was about retaining her dignity, and she could do anything to protect it. But would it be at the stake of her mother’s health? Was she ready to sacrifice or overlook that? And most importantly, what exactly did he want from her?

Hotel

Ranveer poured the drink for himself. He knew Maya would pay a visit, no matter if she wanted it or not. This was going to be his first step towards the game that had started a few years ago in his family. And this was the right time to reinitiate it again, with the same people and the same task. Just that this time, he would be leading it to the end, no one else.
