The moment they were out in the living room, they saw Dhruv entering the house. Ranveer froze for a moment seeing his younger brother. He looked pale and upset. Obviously, the turn of events that took place last night was unacceptable for each one of them.
“Dhruv,” Maya walked to him. “What are you doing here?”
Dhruv smiled at her and glanced at his brother, who didn’t move at all. “I came here to apologize to you.”
Maya stiffened. She knew yesterday whatever happened, Dhruv wasn’t at fault. He had not sent her those messages; it was Kunal who had manipulated her.
“I feel so lost. I don’t know whom to trust… I… feel so lonely,” he looked down to hide his tears.
That was enough to undo Ranveer’s anger on Dhruv for taking the wrong side so far.
“Dhruv, come on here. Sit down first,” Maya dragged him to the couch and got him seated. Maya turned behind to see Ranveer’s reaction. It was clear the two brothers needed to talk. Maya had to make an excuse to allow that.
“I will get you some water.” She got up and left for the kitchen. Dhruv was very nervous. Ranveer sat next to him and gripped his shivering hand. Dhruv couldn’t meet his brother’s eyes. He kept looking down.
“You can never be alone, Dhruv,” Ranveer muttered. “I am here for you. I’ll always be.”
The moment Dhruv heard those comforting lines, he hugged Ranveer tight. Ranveer stroked his back gently.
“I am sorry, Bro. I was so rude to you,” Dhruv said.
Ranveer pulled him away and met his eyes. “I don’t need your apology. I need your trust. Because without that, I wouldn’t be able to take further actions.”
Dhruv nodded and continued to listen to Ranveer.
“I know it’s my fault too that I didn’t tell you the truth of your father and Kunal. But they have done enough sins to be left alone in peace. I hate them, especially your father. But I have never used you to revenge against them. Yes, I sneaked into your home, into Dev Malik’s study, but that was solely to find the proofs against him. But I made this one mistake. I should have told you everything before getting him arrested. It skipped my mind. I apologize for that.”
“No, Bro,” Dhruv interrupted. “I wouldn’t have reacted well even if you had told me this prior. All these years, I have stayed with them. I love them, Bro. I truly do. And it’s hard to know their real faces.”
Ranveer nodded. He saw Maya waiting with the glass of water, a little away from the two. She didn’t want to intrude their talks. He gestured for her to come, and she didn’t delay returning to them. Dhruv gulped the water and tried to compose himself.
“All good between you two now?” Maya asked, being hopeful.
“Absolutely,” Ranveer wiped the tear drop from Dhruv’s eyes and got up. “I should get going. I have to meet someone.”
Dhruv got up and hugged Ranveer again before he allowed him to leave. Maya accompanied her husband till the private elevator.
“Well, what if I have to go out? I don't have Aisha now to protect me,” she said as they paused at the elevator. “Me and Aisha got along well with each other,” she pouted. “Anyways, this time find a male bodyguard. At least I won’t feel so attached to him.”
Though she said that in a casual way, she knew he would be offended.
“Male guard?” He slid his arm around her waist, and the next instant, he hauled her to him. “Not happening, Mrs. Maya Malhotra. I can’t stand any other man even looking at you,” he added.
Maya laughed uncontrollably as he started to tickle her everywhere. Ranveer Malhotra and his possessiveness could never grow old. He kissed her nose. “We will find a solution to this when I come back.”
“I have a solution, actually,” she started fiddling with the buttons of his shirt. Every time she did that, it invoked a painful ache in his lower body.
“Don’t use seduction to convince me, baby,” he pulled her chin up, forcing her to meet his sharp gaze. “Aisha is not coming back.”
Her jaw dropped.
“Fine. But I didn’t try to seduce you. It is not my fault if you feel so by a mere touch of mine.”
“Touch?” he smirked. “Even the thought of you makes me hard and forget the world, Maya. Even if I am miles away from you.”
She couldn’t give a fitting reply to that. When the elevator doors opened, he held her nape and kissed her hard before striding inside.
“Seduce me tonight,” he demanded.
